Rail: Normal Position.

RACE 1 – S & K BIGGINS/BURDETTS STORE/SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE

EXCLAIMER (L. Smith) and HOT ISLE (J. Maund) both jumped awkwardly and as a result lost considerable ground.

Inside the 200 metres MILITIARA (Darren Holland) shifted in and as a result hampered DISCOUNTER (B. Claridge) for a short distance.

RACE 2 – COLLINS INDUSTRIAL/PRETORIA HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE

Correct Weight was delayed in being semaphored for this event when R. Faehr, rider of the second placegetter MARSCMER, wished to view the official Stewards’ patrol films for an incident at the 700 metres and also in the straight. After viewing the films, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

CRIMSON FLAME (J. Maund) and INCLUSIVE (W. Kerford) were both slow to begin.

SIMONDE (D. Tootell) jumped out at the start and bumped BILLY’S MY IDOL (C. Symons).

In the vicinity of the 700 metres SIMONDE (D. Tootell) shifted in at the same time as LORD ROSELAND (P. Gatt) shifted out slightly and as a result COMANECI (D. Cleaver) and MARSCMER (R. Faehr) were inconvenienced for a short distance. D. Tootell was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres CHEWBACCA (J. Potter) shifted out and as a result MAGIC MUNNDAY (B. Vale) was taken wider for a short distance.

BILLY’S MY IDOL lost it’s near hind plate during the running of the event.

RACE 3 – GRIFFITHS FARM MACHINERY/ZADOW WELL DRILLING/SABIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP

MISS DANGER (J. Burgess) was slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 700 metres LADY ROSELAND (B. Claridge) raced ungenerously for a short distance.

RACE 4 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY CLASS 5 HANDICAP

Trainer, M. Minervini, was reminded of his obligations in having any horses in his care on course by the required time.

RACE 5 – WEST END/WANBI HOTEL SOCIAL CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP

Trainer, Mr. P. Hughes, was fined the sum of $50 for a late declaration of rider for IMBROGLIO.

BISCALATE (W. Kerford) jumped out at the start and bumped IMBROGLIO (C. Lindop).

DANCING EAGLE (P. Marks) showed a tendency to race ungenerously in the early stages.

Apprentice, B. Claridge, was questioned regarding the performance of BRIGHTNESS in today’s event. B. Claridge informed the Stewards that BRIGHTNESS was never comfortable in the early and middle stages and in the vicinity of the 900 metres showed a tendency to over-race. He further stated that, when asked for an effort in the vicinity of the 400 metres, BRIGHTNESS was slow in responding to his riding and he felt this was due to the fact that the race had been run at a fast pace and that the mare carried 57kg in today’s event. B. Claridge was advised that his explanations had been noted. A veterinary inspection of BRIGHTNESS found that the mare had jarred up in both front legs.

RACE 6 – BARDRILL MINDARIE-HALIDON CUP

A swab sample was taken from BRAVE DECISION, winner of the race.

SATANIC (T. Barras) was withdrawn by the Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice, at 3.57 pm when that gelding reared and became cast in its barrier stall. A veterinary inspection revealed that SATANIC had suffered abrasions to both forelegs. All monies invested on SATANIC were ordered to be refunded. Bets for the win and place made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less two cents in the dollar for the win and three cents in the dollar for the place.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres RIDE THE STORM (W. Kerford) shifted in and as a result KING OF RUBITON (M. Neilson) had to be steadied for a strides. W. Kerford was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres KING OF RUBITON (M. Neilson) shifted in slightly at the same time as GLENOLA (G. Dorol) and CARNIVOROUS (C. Lindop) both went for a run between KING OF RUBITON and FAIRWAY GAME (B. Vale). As a result FAIRWAY GAME had to be checked and SOAKING (L. Smith), which was racing behind FAIRWAY GAME, also had to be checked, losing considerable ground. After taking evidence, no blame could be attributed to any one rider.

RACE 7 – MALLEE CONSTRUCTIONS/KELVIN WESTBROOK DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP

There was a slight delay to the running of this race as maintenance was carried out on a burst water pipe in the vicinity of the 200 metres.

Correct Weight was delayed in being declared for this event when T. Barras, rider of MARIZZIQUE, wished to view the Stewards’ head on patrol film over the concluding stages. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

KEEN ON BILL (P. Marks) and RIMULA (D. Tootell) both jumped awkwardly.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres RIMULA (D. Tootell) shifted in and as a result TASTE THE MAGIC (W. Kerford) had to be steadied. D. Tootell was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Over the concluding stages of the event, MARIZZIQUE (T. Barras) showed a tendency to hang in causing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

WARENDA PRINCE (M. Neilson) was eased down and out of the race in the home straight. It was revealed that WARENDA PRINCE had suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the running of the race. Miss K. Duffie, trainer of WARENDA PRINCE, was advised that the gelding was banned from racing for a period of three months under ARR 53A.
