Moe (VIC) - Sunday 17 February 2002
Track: GOOD
Weather: FINE
Rail: 2 METRES OUT ENTIRE CIRCUIT

Riding Changes:

Race Horse Rider Replaced By Reason
7 "Wriggles"  P. Michaelides  P. Templeton  Became indisposed

RACE 1 - HAPPY HOUR FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1). 1100 Metres. At the entrance to the straight, "Ark Venture" was hampered by "Regal Vintage" (P. Michaelides) which, when improving quickly, shifted out when not sufficiently clear. P. Michaelides was notified to exercise more care when in similar circumstances in future.

RACE 2 - RAPIDVITE FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE (2). 1100 Metres Approaching the 1000 metres, "Hindmarsh Island" and "Polar Award (NZ)" came together on two occasions.

Near the 100 metres, "Erbourne" was hampered when tightened for room by "China Garden (NZ)" which shifted out.

On return to scale, M. Pay, rider of "Sinfonie", second place-getter, lodged a protest against "Break The Mould" being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference from the 50 metre mark until the end of the race. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and after viewing the Stewards patrol video and T. V. versions of the race, Stewards upheld the objection, the amended placings being "Sinfonie", first place-getter, "Break The Mould", second place-getter and "Rib Tiggler", third place-getter. It was established that over the concluding stages of the race, "Break The Mould" shifted out taking "Sinfonie" out off its course.

Subsequent to the race, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that "Jester Girl" sustained a wound to its off hind leg.

RACE 3 - MOE OFFICESMART MAIDEN PLATE. 1600 Metres. Prior to correct weight, A.B. Robertson, rider of "Erbourne", fifth place-getter, wished to view the Stewards patrol video of the straight before deciding whether to lodge an objection. After viewing the film, A. B. Robertson decided not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared.

RACE 4 - CARLTON DRAUGHT SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE. 1600 Metres. After passing the 1400 metres, "Karamal" which shifted out, had to be eased off the heels of "Brydan" which shifted in.

Shortly after the start, A. Austin, rider of "Heliosphere", lost his off side iron for some distance before regaining it rounding the home turn.

RACE 5 - A CAMEL HIRE AMUSEMENTS CLASS 1 HANDICAP. 1100 Metres.Whilst proceeding to the barrier, "Fantastic Times" reared over. "Fantastic Times" was inspected at the barrier by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and was decl

ared fit to run.

Prior to correct weight, V. Duric, rider of "Phidipides", the third place-getter, lodged an objection against "Adamartaig" being declared the second place-getter on the grounds of alleged interference from near the 1050 metres to near the 950 metres. D. Short, rider of "Gold Pele", the fourth place-getter, lodged objections against the second place-getter alleging interference from near the 1050 metres to near the 900 metres and also approaching the home turn. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the Stewards patrol video and T.V. versions of the race, Stewards dismissed all objections. It was established that near the 1000 metres, "Adamartaig" (N. Callow) shifted in and tightened "Phidipides" in onto "Gold Pele". Shortly after this, "Adamartaig" (N. Callow) again shifted in slightly and tightened "Phidipides" in onto the hindquarters of "Gold Pele" resulting in "Phidipides" being hampered and "Gold Pele" being hampered and turned outwards. N. Callow was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in on these two occasions when not sufficiently clear.

Near the 700 metres, "Phidipides" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Gold Pele" which shifted out slightly and "Adamartaig" which, when having a tendency to lay in, then shifted in slightly.

Near the 500 metres, "Dr. Buzz (NZ)" brushed the running rail.

Near the 400 metres, "Adamartaig" shifted in slightly and brushed "Gold Pele".

An inquiry was adjourned into the bonafides of the training of "Megahertz". Evidence was today taken from Mr. P. Irvine, part owner of the gelding and registered stablehand.

RACE 6 - BECHAZ FAMILY OPEN HANDICAP. 1200 Metres. This race was re-scheduled to start at 3.53 p.m.

In the mounting yard, "Nynight Louis" was kicked by another runner. "Nynight Louis" was inspected at the barrier by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and was declared fit to run.

RACE 7 - GIPPSLAND PHONES CLASS 2 HANDICAP. 2050 Metres. Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. F. Salanitri, who was representing Mr. J. Salanitri, trainer of "Ya Waheed", who stated that subsequent to scratching time this morning, the gelding was found to be sore in front and therefore unfit to run, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Ya Waheed" at 10.50 a.m. Mr. Salanitri assured the Stewards a veterinary certificate in respect of "Ya Waheed" will be faxed to the Club.

Near the 500 metres, "Wellington Drive" shifted out slightly and brushed "Kevjoy".

Rounding the home turn, "Rhapsodize" was held up for a run for a short distance.

RACE 8 - AP GLASSWORKS CLASS 4 HANDICAP. 1600 Metres. Near the 200 metres, "Vintage Morn (NZ)" broke down and was pulled up by its rider, S. Noll.

RACE 9 - MID CITY TAVERN CLASS 1 HANDICAP. 1600 Metres. As "Vidal" had broken away from its attendant when being unloaded from the float and then galloped a circuit, "Vidal" was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and declared unfit to run. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Vidal" at 4.53 p.m.

After passing the 200 metres, "Rampant Rhythm" shifted out away from "Pacific Jugah" and brushed "Jughead Jed".
