        metres:  Running to the 1400 metres "Monde Special" became
        unbalanced when tightened slightly between "Our Dane" and "Figeac
        (NZ)", which shifted in slightly. D. Nikolic, rider of "Kinjika" which performed
        below expectations, stated that the mare raced like a tired horse, and he felt that it may
        have had enough racing this campaign. A veterinary examination of "Kinjika"
        failed to reveal any apparent abnormality. Race 2 - SWIFT SIGNS FLYING (1) - 1000 metres:
         No report. Race 3 - SILVER JUBILEE STAKES - 1200 metres:
         Shortly after the start "Raven Protector" had to
        be checked when tightened for room between "Dance on Wood" and
        "Kabushka", which was taken in by "Rory's Babe" which, in turn, was
        taken in by "Sunday Shoes", which was hanging in. Shortly after this incident "Kabushka" and
        "Rory's Babe" were hampered by "Sunday Shoes", which continued to hang
        in. S. King, rider of "Sunday Shoes", stated that the
        filly, which performed below expectations, hung in badly throughout the race. A veterinary
        examination of "Sunday Shoes" failed to reveal any abnormality. Running to the 400 metres "Stackaway", which
        commenced to give ground, was hampered when tightened for room between "Sweet
        Poss", which shifted out when weakening, and "Regal Tess", which shifted in
        slightly.  Race 4 - SCHWEPPES MILE - 1600 metres:  "What a Blast" knuckled on jumping away. "Melody Prince" had difficulty obtaining a clear
        run rounding the home turn, and for the majority of the straight. S. Arnold, rider of "Quencher", stated that he
        was held up for a run running to the home turn., and again when "Melody Prince"
        improved quickly on his outside on the home turn. Arnold added that he then was unable to
        obtain a clear run for the majority of the straight. Race 5 - QANTAS FLYING (2) - 1000 metres:
         "Comedy Snip" jumped away awkwardly, and lost
        ground. Race 6 - HOYTS TROPHY - 3000 metres:  "Zamarin" was held up for a run approaching and
        rounding the home turn. Race 7 - CARLTON FOOTBALL CLUB HANDICAP - 1523
        metres:  Shortly after the start "Rezidencia (NZ)" was
        hampered when tightened for room between :"Archmobile", which shifted out, and
        "Encosterino". Near the 1200 metres "Rezidencia (NZ)" had to be
        eased off the heels of "Arborelle", which shifted in. SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of
        all races tonight.  |
