RACE 1 – OAKBANK RACING CLUB STEEPLECHASE:

LORD ZENOBIA was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and ruled fit to start.

The start of this race was delayed owing to an adjustment being made to the saddle on SEEK THE GOLD.

CURRINSKY (P. Thomas) struck the obstacle in the vicinity of the 800 metres and fell on landing. CONVEYANCE (NZ) (C. Maher) was severely hampered in attempting to avoid the fallen horse and shifted out onto LORD ZENOBIA (W. Williams), which was inconvenienced.

SHAMROCK DANCER (P. Daniel) was eased out of the event prior to the 400 metres.

HOSTLER (J. Hateley) ran out making the final two jumps.

CURRINSKY suffered a dislocated neck in the incident.

Subsequent to the race SHAMROCK DANCER was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding was running a temperature and was displaying signs of the onset of a viral complaint

Ms. K. Byrnes, Trainer of SHAMROCK DANCER, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

P. Thomas was examined by the Club Doctor who reported no injuries.

RACE 2 – WILLOWPOINT / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE:

Approaching the 800 metres DEXTROUS (W. Kerford), which was inclined to race fiercely, shifted out while being restrained and brushed DANCE FOR KATE (Darren Holland), which reacted away and made the turn off the back straight awkwardly.

Near the 300 metres TOPAVIC (C. Buchiw) shifted in under riding, onto the heels of RUBY JEST.

Inside the 200 metres TOPAVIC (C. Buchiw) was disappointed when attempted a run outside the heels of RUBY JEST (B. Claridge) and inside DANCE FOR KATE (Darren Holland), which was inclined to lay in.

Over the concluding stages TOPAVIC (C. Buchiw) was unable to obtain clear ground.

RACE 3 – GUNDOOEE AGISTMENT MAIDEN PLATE:

The start of this race was delayed owing to EAST AMOUR, which was fractious in the Mounting Yard, rearing and striking C. Buchiw in the head. C. Buchiw was examined by the Club Doctor and ruled unfit to ride. EAST AMOUR was subsequently withdrawn at 1.39 p.m. by Stewards, as no rider was available.

T. Creek was notified as the rider of MIGHTY POWERFUL. Mr. R. Balfour, representing Mr. D. Balfour Trainer of the filly, was advised that a $50 fine would be imposed for failing to notify a rider by the required time.

Near the 800 metres MAKESUM (G. Dorol) was obliged to steady for a short distance when tightened by MAGPIE (P. Marks), which had shifted away when taken in by HILTON CROWN (M. Hoppo).

M. Hoppo was reprimanded and advised in future to take greater care when shifting ground.

Approaching the 600 metres MIGHTY POWERFUL (T. Creek), which appeared hesitant, while racing inside WORLDLY WAYS (C. Lindop), shifted in and contacted the running rail and became unbalanced for a short distance.

DEVASTAR suffered a puncture wound to its near fore knee during the race.

WORLDLY WAYS suffered a laceration to its off side hock during the race.

RACE 4 – MURRAYLANDS SECURITY CLASS 1 HANDICAP:

Mr. A. McEvoy, Trainer of JUST PETE which proved difficult to load, was advised that a repetition of the filly’s behaviour may lead to action being taken against it.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres BRIANNA BLONDIE (M. Hoppo) shifted out slightly, resulting in JUST PETE (S. Price) being obliged to shift out onto AMBER COURT (J. Maund), which was inconvenienced.

RACE 5 – MURRAY BRIDGE MOTOR INN / SABIS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP:

WINESONG (Darren Holland) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start MISTY GALORE (J. Bowditch) shifted out onto TYPHOON DOLLY (T. Creek), tightening that mare against PINE MIST (P. Marks), taking that mare out onto JAZZ IT UP (D. Tootell), resulting in PINE MIST and TYPHOON DOLLY being inconvenienced.

Near the 900 metres CAMPASPE (C. Lindop) was obliged to steady when tightened by MISTY GALORE (J. Bowditch), which was inclined to lay in and away from CROWNED LOVE (S. Price), which shifted in marginally. In consequence TYPHOON DOLLY (T. Creek) was obliged to steady off the heels of CAMPASPE.

Inside the 200 metres CROWNED LOVE (S. Price) shifted in marginally, resulting in TYPHOON DOLLY (T. Creek) being taken in onto JUST DO IT NOW (M. Hoppo), resulting in BURZAM (D. Azis) being obliged to steady off the heels of JUST DO IT NOW.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of PINE MIST revealed the mare was lame in the off fore foot. Mr. D. Walker, Trainer of PINE MIST, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of JAZZ IT UP revealed soreness in the lower back.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of WINE SONG revealed lameness in the near fore shoulder.

RACE 6 – M.J.S. TREE & STUMP CONTRACTORS CLASS 3 HANDICAP:

SOGNARE (J. Bowditch) was slow to jump.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of QUEEN MILENA which revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – RADIO 5MU CLASS 5 HANDICAP:

C. Buchiw was examined by the Club Doctor and ruled fit to continue her engagement.

DISCO KID (W. Kerford) was slow to jump.

RACE 8 – MBRC MEMBERS / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE:

MYPOLLONGA (G. Dorol) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, contacting DANCING LIGHTS (B. Vale).

Inside the 1200 metres SOUTHERN SPUR (P. Gatt) shifted in marginally onto PARK CITY (S. Price), resulting in that filly being taken in slightly onto FOX HELIOS (J. Maund), which was inclined to race greenly and shift in onto SMYTZER’S TARO (J. Lorensini), resulting in that gelding shifting away and contacting the running rail. In doing so SMYTZER’S TARO became unbalanced and lost considerable ground. P. Gatt and S. Price were both advised to take greater care when shifting ground.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres MYPOLLONGA (G. Dorol) lost its position when tightened by SARATOGA BOY (J. Holder), which shifted in while attempting to avoid the heels of VERDELLO (Darren Holland), as that filly shifted in. Stewards took no action in this incident as they deemed no one rider to be responsible. In consequence DANCING LIGHTS (B. Vale) and DAME DUVESSA (D. Tootell) were inconvenienced.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres FOX HELIOS (J. Maund), when being steadied, got its head up and raced greenly for a short distance.

Inside the 900 metres DANCING LIGHTS (B. Vale), which had commenced to race keenly, was forced to steady when it improved onto the heels of SHORE GENIE (D. Carney). B. Vale was cautioned and advised to exercise greater care in future.

Approaching the 200 metres FOX HELIOS (J. Maund) shifted out, across the running of BLEVERA (C. Lindop), resulting in that filly being forced to steady to avoid its heels. FOX HELIOS continued out and brushed SHORE GENIE (D. Carney).

J. Maund was found guilty of a charge of Careless Riding under ARR 137(a) and suspended from riding for a period to commence at midnight on Monday 11th March and to conclude at midnight on Saturday 16th March 2002.

SHORE GENIE suffered a severe laceration to its off hind fetlock and near hind cannon during the race. First Aid was administered.

SMYTZER’S TARO suffered extensive abrasions to its off side flank and hip during the race.
