the rider of CAPTAIN CHRISTIE owing to C. Lever being indisposed through injury. J. Marks replaced B. Claridge as the rider
of BISHA MON and in turn that rider was replaced by D. Tootell owing to J. Marks being
indisposed due to injury. Mr. B. Cozamanis, trainer of CAPTAIN
CHRISTIE, was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for that horse at the
required time. A swab sample was taken from SQUILLANI,
winner of the race. SQUILLANI was subject to a veterinary
inspection at the start after being kicked in the mounting enclosure and was passed fit to
take its place in the field. BANC O GOLD, which reared over
backwards dislodging its rider C. Lindop, was subject to a veterinary inspection which
passed that mare fit to take its place in the field. CAPTAIN CHRISTIE (Darren Holland) jumped
away awkwardly resulting in that gelding shifting in onto YOUNG SCARLET (S. Price) who in
turn was taken in making contact with LINE OF GOLD (T. Creek) resulting in that colt
becoming unbalanced for a short distance. On jumping away CASH IN A FLASH (H.
McKechnie) shifted in resulting in contact being made with BISHA MON (D. Tootell). In the vicinity of the 1200 metres CHALTOM
        (J. Bowditch) shifted in slightly; at the same time YOUNG SCARLET (S. Price) shifted out
resulting in CAPTAIN CHRISTIE (Darren Holland) being tightened for galloping room between
those two horses and being forced to lose its position. Stewards took no further action as
they believed that no one rider was responsible. In the vicinity of the 1000 metres
SQUILLANI (G. Dorol) shifted in when insufficiently clear of CAPTAIN CHRISTIE (Darren
Holland) resulting in that gelding being tightened and eventually being forced to check
and lose its position. G. Dorol was subsequently charged with Careless Riding under ARR
137(a) and after pleading guilty to the charge was suspended from riding in races for a
        period to commence at midnight on 1 October and to expire at midnight on 20 October 2001;
a period of three metropolitan meetings. In the vicinity of the 800 metres
BRIGHTNESS (B. Claridge), which commenced to race fiercely, and whilst being eased,
shifted out resulting in CASH IN A FLASH (H. McKechnie) being forced wider on the track. In the vicinity of the 200 metres LINE OF
GOLD (T. Creek) was disappointed for a run when having to ease to avoid the heels of the
tiring RUBIREIGN (J. Potter). At the same time CHALTOM (J. Bowditch), which was racing on
the outside of LINE OF GOLD, rolled in, further hampering that colt. BISHA MON (D. Tootell) and GREENSWARD (W.
Kerford) were both disappointed for a run for a short distance in the vicinity of the 200
metres. A veterinary inspection and endoscoping of

occasions. Rounding the home turn BAROUD (P. Gatt)
became unbalanced for a short distance. Racing to the 200 metres DANCERKOV (R.
Cartwright) shifted out to improve its position resulting in SLIPPERY GUY (J. Maund) being
taken out and being tightened for galloping room between SOEUR BLEU (Darren Holland) and
DANCERKOV, which resulted in SLIPPERY GUY becoming unbalanced for some distance. J. Maund
reported to Stewards that although receiving some pressure, his mount had over reacted to
the situation. Stewards advised R. Cartwright of his obligations. A veterinary inspection of KYAKATU
following the running of the race revealed an upper respiratory tract infection. P. Marks was examined by the Clubs
Surgeon following the running of this race and ruled unfit to ride for the remainder of
the programme owing to him having pulled a muscle in his back. RACE 3 : WEBER BARBECUES 3YO FILLIES

slow to begin. AMACLASE (T. Creek) jumped away awkwardly
resulting in that filly shifting out onto SUMMER WIND (W. Kerford) who in turn was taken
out onto MILITIARA (M. Hoppo). In the vicinity of the 600 metres PRINCESS
NICKY (B. Claridge) rolled in resulting in BANDWAGON (D. Smith) being inconvenienced on
the inside of that filly. In the vicinity of the 200 metres SANTA
BARBARA GIRL (J. Bowditch) shifted in slightly resulting in RUBY WEDNESDAY (J. Maund)
being taken in onto PERFECT CLEAVAGE (D. Tootell) resulting in that filly being
inconvenienced and having to change direction to obtain clear galloping room. Stewards
took no further action as they believed no one rider was responsible. RACE 4 : BONNETTS SADDLERY
SPECIAL CONDITIONS HANDICAP W. Kerford replaced J. Lorensini as
the rider of STAR GAMES. J. Maund replaced C. Lever as the rider of KEDRON. A swab sample was taken from KEYMARK,
winner of the race. RACE 5 : ROBIN HOOD HOTEL 3YO

rider of BO BEST. Racing to the 600 metres HIT was eased out
of the race by its rider, J. Nevin, when that gelding suffered a bi-lateral bleeding
attack. As a result Mr. D. Pannell, representing Mr. J. Hawkes, trainer of that gelding,
was advised that the gelding was now banned from racing for a period of three months. Mr.
Pannell advised Stewards that HIT would now be retired. Stewards questioned D. Tootell, rider of BO
BEST, and that geldings trainer, Mr. L. Macdonald, regarding its poor performance
today. D. Tootell reported to Stewards that BO BEST had been slow to begin and shortly
after barrier rise to in the vicinity of the 200 metres, had shown a reluctance to race
despite his efforts. D. Tootell further stated that it was not until over the concluding
200 metres of the race that BO BEST had responded to his riding. Mr. L. Macdonald reported
to Stewards that the gelding had performed similarly at Victoria Park on 25th
August 2001 and on that day he had put it down to the heavy state of the track but in
light of todays performance he could offer no further explanations into the
inconsistent performance of the gelding. A veterinary inspection of BO BEST
following the running of the race revealed no visible abnormalities. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE MISS
QUICK (NZ) following the running of the race revealed an abnormal heart beat. As a result
Mr. L. Macdonald, trainer of that filly, was advised that the results of an ECG would be
