RACE 1 – NARACOORTE HIRE & SALES/ SABIS 2YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division) – 1430 metres

M. Hagley replaced J. Potter as the rider of LITTLE JACKSON, after J. Potter had doubly engaged himself on LITTLE JACKSON and COMIC WARRIOR. J. Potter was fined $100 under ARR 120 (b).

In the vicinity of the 150 metres TRESPASSERS WILL (D. Mittiga), which was showing a tendency to lay in, shifted in and hampered PATANGAR (S. Harrison).

In the vicinity of the 150 metres MAKESUM (L. Meech) was inclined to lay in for a few strides.

Over the concluding stages COMIC WARRIOR (J. Potter) showed a tendency to race greenly and hang in, which prevented that rider from riding his mount out to the line in his normal manner.

RACE 2 – TNT LAKE CITY TRANSPORT/ SABIS 2YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division) – 1430 metres

NAME IT (J. Potter) jumped out at the start and made contact with TURISMO (D. Carney), and as a result NAME IT lost considerable ground.

TASTE THE SPIRIT (D. Mittiga) and MAQUIRES MILLIONS (K. Post) were slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres BIDDYUP (D. Cleaver) shifted in for a few strides and hampered TURISMO (D. Carney).

RACE 3 – NARACOORTE MOTOR CYCLES CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1000 metres

No report.

RACE 4 – ORMEROD CRASH REPAIRS DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 2000 metres

TIMBER COUNTRY (P. Marks) broke through its barrier stall, prior to the start, before being quickly restrained. TIMBER COUNTRY was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

VICHENO (S. Price) jumped in at the start at the same time as TERTIAN’S GAMBLE (J. Potter) jumped out and as a result ICE CHANCES (NZ) (D. Yendall) was hampered and lost some ground.

Shortly after passing the finish post on the first occasion GOLD TRIO (M. Hagley) and HOT ISLE (D. Mittiga) bumped on two occasions.

In the vicinity of the 1600 metres TERTIAN’S GAMBLE (J. Potter) hung out and as a result raced wider on the track for a short distance.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres VICHENO (S. Price), which was held up for a clear run, had to be eased from the heels of ENHANCER (D. Carney). VICHENO was again held up for a clear run over the concluding stages.

LEAD ON (C. Lindop) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

RACE 5 – HANSEN PRINT CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1430 metres

MIKAJA (M. Hagley) broke through its barrier stall prior to the start before being quickly restrained. MIKAJA was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

TARLAN (S. Price) was slow to begin.

KID DAPPER (P. Marks) showed a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event.

RACE 6 – MUNRO & GRIGG AUTO REPAIRS HANDICAP – 1430 metres

DOUBLE LEGEND (J. Potter) was slow to begin.

Subsequent to the race the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that JACK’S SPIRIT (D. Yendall) had returned sore in the near fore fetlock. Ms. P. Donnelly, Trainer of JACK’S SPIRIT, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

RACE 7 – SMOKE-FREE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 metres

FLY THE SKY (D. Yendall) proved difficult to load. Trainer Mrs. S. Jaensch was avised that a warning had been placed on FLY THE SKY in relation to its barrier manners.

RUSTIC OPAL (J. Maund) and RED ROSE (S. Harrison) bumped at the start.

JEFFERSON (K. Post) jumped in at the start at the same time as TOYMAKER (D. Missen) jumped out and as a result VIRGINIA RED (L. Meech), which was between those two horses, was hampered for a few strides.

RUSTIC OPAL (J. Maund) showed a tendency to over-race and raced greenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres RUSTIC OPAL (J. Maund) shifted out and hampered TOYMAKER (D. Missen) and DMITRY (G. Hoobin).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres MISTER MAC (D. Carney), which was racing greenly, became unbalanced and shifted out for a few strides.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres FLY THE SKY (D. Yendell) shifted in and away from RUSTIC OPAL (J. Maund), which had been racing greenly and shifted in. As a result, FLY THE SKY made contact with RED ROSE (S. Harrison), resulting in that horse having to be checked. JEFFERSON (K. Post), which had been racing behind RED ROSE, also had to be steadied in the incident and as a result lost some ground.
