Bondi Run, which was overracing, was hampered in consequence. Bondi Run continued to overrace and near the 600M got its head up and was steadied off the heels of Why I Wonder.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Predominater, M Newnham stated that when placed under pressure Predominator felt sore and as such he did not ride it out to the end of the race. RACE 5 - FIRST NATIONAL HOME SELLERS GUIDE MAIDEN PLATE (DIV 2) 1200M

On return to scale an objection was lodged by D Spriggs, the rider of second placegetter Mintiki, against Skoozi's Girl (T Jones) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 1100M. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and viewing the films, it was established that approaching the 1100M Skoozi's Girl shifted in causing Jambala to shift in on to Forest Vista, which was checked and shifted inwards crowding Mintiki. Stewards were of the opinion that although Mintiki was crowded the interference suffered by that filly was not sufficient to alter the placings and as such the objection was dismissed.

At a subsequent inquiry T Jones pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 17 March 2002 and to expire on Sunday 27 March 2002 on which day he may ride.
