WEATHER: OVERCAST
TRACK: GOOD
Rail out 7 metres entire circumference mmcloon

RACE 1 - Case XT Skid Steers Maiden Plate 1400m

Comedy Prince stood flatfooted when the gates were released losing considerable ground. Trainer P Perry was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of Comedy Prince. Approaching the 1200M Waterman commenced to overrace getting its head up. A short distance later Waterman was checked off the heels of Gracerena, shifted inwards crowding Anello Rosso which had to be restrained and lost ground. Anello Rosso then hung out for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination of Anello Rosso revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near fore leg and to be lame in that leg. The stable representative for trainer K Moore was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to Anello Rosso racing again. Approaching the 600M Military Envoy raced fiercely and was then buffeted between Echo Lad and Chimpa and consequently lost ground. Near the 550m Echo Lad (D Spriggs) shifted out from behind Anello Rosso, which was hanging out, and as a result Chimpa was steadied away from that gelding's heels. D Spriggs was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. A post race veterinary examination of Our Fred did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2 - Market Leading Case Backhoes Provincial Class 6 Plate 1300m

En route to the barriers D Spriggs was dislodged by Citi Fella which galloped a short distance before being recaptured, resulting in the start being delayed for some minutes. In the early stages Kenny's Pride raced ungenerously getting its head up. Near the 600m Vainist was steadied when crowded for room between Hunter Hermitage and Kenny's Pride. A post race veterinary examination of Kenny's Pride did not reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken. Trainer B Milligan was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of Kenny's Pride and undertook to report if there is anything amiss with the gelding in the days subsequent. When questioned regarding the riding of Hunter Hermitage, jockey S Treweek stated that he was advised not to rev the gelding up in the early stages as Hunter Hermitage had a tendency to overrace. He said on jumping with the blinkers removed today he was able to settle Hunter Hermitage back in the field and in the early stages endeavoured to find cover. He said when he attempted to improve near the 500m to the outside of Can't He Travel he was disappointed for that run as Kenny's Pride had improved to his outside. He said that due to the slow early pace, when the field quickened at the 400m he was left flatfooted for a short distance and was then unable to improve to the outside of Can't He Travel as Kenny's Pride maintained its position half a length forward of him and outside him. He said because of this he elected to shift to the inside and follow Foolish Things into the race, however that runner failed to improve as he would have expected and as such he was then held up until near the 100m where Hunter Hermitage finally found clear running and improved quickly into it. Trainer D Smith confirmed the instructions, however in running he was concerned that the gelding had got further back than he anticipated. Mr Smith tendered evidence of stable support for Hunter Hermitage. Mr Smith was reminded of his obligation to advise the stewards when there is to be a change in riding tactics.

RACE 3 - Case CX Excavators 2yo Maiden Plate 1200m

Shortly after entering the straight Miss Arena shifted out taking Fuji Flash wider. Fuji Flash shifted back in and shortly after was taken in when Miss Arena shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 200M Mynedi Mine shifted to the inside of Peak Gem crowding Measure Of A Man which was checked.. M Privato (Mynedi Mine) pleaded guilty to the charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in from behind Peak Gem and in doing so crowded Measure Of A Man which was checked. Ballymara which was following shifted in abruptly away from Measure Of A Man resulting in Universal Lad being taken in on to Weston Lake which was checked severely. Passing the 500M Dame Du Ciel shifted out slightly and as a result Dashing Away struck that filly's heels and became momentarily unbalanced. Rounding the turn into the straight Phantom Rose was inclined to hang out and was awkwardly placed on the heels of Race Day. Kerouac (M Squires) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and over the concluding stages shifted in crowding Echo Chamber which had to be steadied. M Squires was advised in similar circumstances to stop riding sooner than he did on this occasion. In the early part of the straight Race Day had difficulty obtaining clear running.

RACE 5 - Case Equipment Sales Provincial Class 3 Plate 1600m

Meteorol stood flatfooted as the gates were released losing considerable ground. Due to the slow early pace Lunar Creek raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Near the 200m the tiring Meteorol was crowded for room by Lunar Creek which was taken in slightly by Conzeal (T Muto). T Muto was advised to exercise more care. When questioned as to his riding of Lunar Creek, jockey S Treweek stated that he was unable to take a run to the outside of Conzeal as he was held tight on his outside by Alfayn. He said when he shifted into the run to the inside of Conzeal that gelding laid in under pressure and as such he did not obtain clear running until the concluding stages.

Powderfinger jumped a mark on the track near the 1500m and became unbalanced. Legerdemain pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Passing the 900M Viva Voce had to be checked when racing tight between Swiss Fortune and Another Russ. Rounding the home turn Scenic Traveller shifted out bumping Another Russ and became unbalanced. When questioned as to the reasons for Zenatius racing further forward today, jockey R Thompson stated that as there was no early pace, acting in accordance with his instructions in those circumstances he took up a forward position.

RACE 7 - Case Top Parts & Service Class 1 Handicap 1300m

Nonchalant Air shifted in on jumping and made heavy contact with Barker Boy which became unbalanced. Stylish Kingdom raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and near the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of Nonchalant Air.
