WEATHER: FINE
TRACK: GOOD
Rail out 4m entire circumference

RACE 1 - Gaming Technology Solutions Maiden Plate 900m

As Botticelli Chic proved difficult to load, trainer J Dunn was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the filly. On jumping Beautiful Kate shifted out abruptly and hampered Brooklyn Opera. Del Ango jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Del Ango then continued to race greenly and threw its head up in the early stages. Approaching the 800M Prepack bucked and a short distance later was eased down. Trainer D Smith was advised that Prepack must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again. When questioned A W Robinson (Jilltrice) stated that he was instructed to ride his mount in a forward position where comfortable. He said as the gates were released Jilltrice turned its head and consequently was slow to begin, obliging him to ride his mount along in the early stages in an endeavour to take up a forward position. He said approaching the 600M he had to steady his mount when racing tight inside Birrong and as a result was unable to improve his position for some distance when Jilltrice was reluctant to improve inside that runner. He said that approaching the 250M he attempted to improve around the heels of Botticelli Chic, however was disappointed for that run as Birrong had improved to his outside and he would have interfered with that runner had he continued to shift. He added that he then endeavoured to obtain a run between Botticelli Chic and Miss Attitude but was disappointed for that run and Jilltrice consequently went to the line untested. A post race veterinary examination of Jilltrice did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2 - Pest Free Australia provincial Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1600m

Prince Kellina was hampered on jumping when crowded by Novocastrian which shifted in. Shortly after the start Powderfinger became unbalanced and blundered. Novocastrian was inclined to lay out in the middle stages. Ultimus was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 300M. Approaching the 300M, after being held up in the early part of the straight, Magic Tumbler was steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of Hornry Miss which was commencing to give ground. A post race veterinary examination of Hornry Miss revealed the filly to be extremely lame in the near fore leg. Trainer D Atkins was advised that before Hornry Miss is permitted to race again it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards and a veterinary clearance must be produced.

RACE 3 - J D &C F Cranfield Tipper Hire Class 3 Handicap 1850m

Two Smok'n Barrels was checked on jumping when crowded by That's Canny which jumped awkwardly and shifted out. When questioned regarding Conzeal racing further back in the field A W Robinson stated that he had been instructed to ride his mount in a forward position behind the leaders. He said that Conzeal began well, however approaching the 1600M, when racing to the outside of The Shootist, Diamond Alight improved quickly to his outside momentarily crowding him for room and obliging him to steady off the heels of The Shootist resulting in him having to race further back than he intended. A W Robinson agreed that he had erred in not attempting to hold his position between The Shootist and Diamond Alight which had resulted in him racing further back than he had been instructed. He was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to ride his mounts in accordance with his instructions.

RACE 4 - Enfield Motor Auctions Maiden Plate 1300m

Montreal jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded by Waterman which shifted in. Passing the 600M, after being taken in by Canny Fella, Matif was steadied to avoid the heels of A Guinea. Pimpala Power had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Crazy Caper, A Huke stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily until the 700M at which point he placed his mount under pressure and it failed to respond. He said although he was obliged to race wide, Crazy Caper was still disappointing.

RACE 5 - Prosperity Personal & Corporate Advisors Class 1 Handicap 1200m

Instant Noodle was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and near the 100M shifted in abruptly resulting in its rider D Spriggs having to stop riding and straighten.
