As J Lee did not arrive on course due to transport difficulties, A Marney was substituted as the rider of Tegroo.

Tegroo was slow to begin.

Birubi Chosen, which was slow to begin, was checked on jumping when Fairy Brightia shifted in.

After the 700M Coronet Lass, which was inclined to lay out, clipped the heels of Universal Lad (B Compton) which shifted in, and blundered. B Compton was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

Approaching the 400M Flaming Inferno was steadied when momentarily crowded by Screen Jester. Myalla Champers which was following was hampered in consequence.

RACE 2 - HUNTER CONTROL PTY LTD PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 AND MAIDEN PLATE 1850M

Due to an office error A W Robinson instead of A G Robinson was shown in the racebook as the rider of Clevatilla.

Near the 300M Ethan, which was commencing to give ground, had to steady off the heels of That's Canny (R Whitworth) which shifted in. Apprentice R Whitworth was reprimanded.

RACE 3 - BEAVIS ELECTRICAL 3 YO & UPWARD MAIDEN PLATE 900M

Hunter Supreme was slow to begin.

Inter The Fray, which was slow to begin, raced greenly throughout.

Nebulation, which was slow to begin, was checked shortly after when crowded between A Penny A Pound and Calhoun, both of which shifted ground.

Hunter Forest, which was slow to begin, overraced in the early stages and near the 600M was checked when crowded between Star Of Durbridge and Hunter Supreme, both of which shifted ground. Hunter Forest was then inclined to lay out when under pressure in the straight obliging its rider, apprentice R Whitworth, to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.

When questioned J Penza (Calhoun) explained that although connections had expected the gelding to perform well and be in a handy position, Calhoun was slow to begin and unable to take up a forward position as expected. He said he was caught wide and unable to obtain cover as the gelding hung out throughout the event. He added that when placed under pressure in the straight Calhoun did not respond to his riding and was most disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of Calhoun, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer P Sutherland undertook to report if there is anything amiss with Calhoun in the days subsequent.

A post race veterinary examination of A Penny A Pound revealed the filly to be shin sore. Trainer B Milligan was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before A Penny A Pound is permitted to race again.

RACE 4 - KEL WHITTAKER SMASH REPAIRS MAIDEN PLATE 1500M

Honry Miss, which was slow to begin, overraced in the early stages and in the early part of the straight was unable to obtain clear running.

RACE 5 - BLUE FRAME BUILDING MAIDEN PLATE (DIV 1) 1200M

Acting on veterinary advice that Zanisa, which injured itself in the tie-up stalls, was unfit to start, stewards ordered its withdrawal prior to betting at 2.34pm.

Covet In Money were slow to begin.

Bangaroo jumped awkwardly and shifted out when steadied off the heels of Cooder.

When the paced steadied in the middle stages Gentle Tom overraced.

In the early part of the straight Radioactive was unable to continue in clear running when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Cooder.

RACE 6 - STRAMIT BUILDING MAIDEN PLATE (DIV 2) 1200M

Pure And Honest and Darwin Dave were slow to begin.

Manchica Bay, which was fractious in the barriers, jumped awkwardly and lost considerable ground, raced greenly in the early stages with its head up and in the straight was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 200M.

Shortly after the start Cossack Lass was steadied when crowded by Jump 'N' Move which shifted in.

A post race veterinary examination of Raw Engergy, which weakened badly in the straight, did not reveal any abnormality.
