In the vicinity of the 1000 metres JAZORSKY (J. Marks) shifted in, resulting in TARARI FOX (H. McKechnie) being tightened for galloping room and becoming unbalanced for a short distance. After this incident TARARI FOX raced ungenerously for a short distance. J. Marks was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 4 – HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT CLASS 2 HANDICAP (2nd Division) – 1200 metres

GOLDEN SKILL lost its near hind plate during the event.

RACE 5 – WEST END OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

Stewards questioned Mr. H. Robertson, Trainer of DRAW POINT, for the late declaration of H. Gower as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted the explanation put forward by Mr. Robertson.

SAUNTERING was a late withdrawal at 2.41 p.m. after that gelding became fractious and flipped over in the gates. Mr. N. Lennon, Trainer of SAUNTERING, was advised the gelding was now banned from racing for a period, until it could prove to Stewards in official barrier trial it could be tractable in the gates.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on SAUNTERING be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 3 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 4 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are subject to the deductions.

PURE CLASS and TRUCENT’S TOUCH, which were in adjoining stalls to SAUNTERING, underwent Veterinary examinations, which revealed both geldings were fit to start.

Racing inside the 100 metres ON THE CANAL (A. Stead), which had taken a tight run inside of SIMPLY SUAVE (D. Azis), was obliged to steady for a short distance when tightened by that mare, which shifted in slightly.
