HANDICAP: SAN QUEEN was a late scratching at
11.12 a.m. by the Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice that the mare was suffering from a
cold. Correct Weight was delayed to allow
Stewards to view the Patrol Film of the start, in conjunction with Jockey J. Holder and
Trainer Mr. D. McMahon. After viewing the Patrol Film and acting on their own
observations, Stewards declared HUG A MUG a runner and Correct Weight was duly declared. HUG A MUG (J. Holder) reared as the gates
opened and as a result lost considerable ground. In the vicinity of the 800 metres SIMCEPT

on WHISTLING LASS, particularly in the early and middle stages of the event. J. Marks
advised the Stewards that he thought WHISTLING LASS would jump well and as a result, would
either lead or race behind SUNBURY (M. Neilson), but he had been unable to take up an
early position after being hampered at the start, when several horses on his inside
shifted out. J. Marks further advised that when he had settled into a position in the
field behind OUR FESTIVAL TIME (NZ) (H. McKechnie), WHISTLING LASS commenced to pull hard
and over-raced and he was unable to shift out and make a run towards the lead, as MERRY
CASH (C. Lindop) had moved to a position on his outside and at that point he had been held
in a pocket for some distance and been unable to obtain a clear run. Subsequent to the race the Clubs

Saturday 16th March, until midnight Sunday 31st March 2002. A period
