Warwick Farm: Saturday 23 January 2002: Race 6 E. Deas Thompson Handicap 1100m

The Stewards today continued an inquiry into the reason App. L. Price was dislodged from On With The Show at approximately the 900m. Evidence was taken today from App. L. Price, who was unable to give evidence on the day due to being transported to hospital, and from his master and father, Mr Robert Price. App. Price stated that he had little or no recollection of any events that took place on the day. He stated that whilst he had previously seen a copy of the video, he did not wish to view the video. Both parties were advised that the Stewards would give consideration to the matter and all parties would be advised in writing of their decision.

Trainer Mrs G. Waterhouse reported that Lupenta, which raced disappointingly, was found to have an abscess on the off-fore hoof for which it has subsequently undergone treatment.

Race 2 Liverpool Leader Handicap 2400m

The Stewards today continued an inquiry into C. Brown being dislodged from The Builder near the 400m when evidence was taken from C. Brown. C. Brown confirmed that The Builder had attempted to change stride but missed its footing resulting in the horse blundering and he being dislodged. As trainer Mr N. McBurney advised that The Builder would be spelled and as the Stewards had ruled that the gelding must barrier trial before racing again, no further action was taken.

Race 8 Fairfield Advance Handicap 1400m

Trainer Mrs G. Waterhouse reported that a veterinary examination of Borelli, which performed disappointingly, revealed no abnormality.

Rosehill Gardens: Sunday 24 February 2002: Race 2 The Blackwoods Cooper Tools Handicap 1900m

Mr R. Stitt stated that although Shoemaker had pulled up well following its disappointing performance, it had been decided to send the gelding out for a short spell and that upon being placed back in work he would experiment with blinkers.

Race 7 The Blackwoods Uvex Handicap 1500m

Trainer Mr R. Quinton reported that following Optimax's disappointing run, the results of a blood count revealed no abnormality and that Optimax had worked well since the race. Mr Quinton stated that the intention now was to continue with the horse's preparation.

RACE 1: Prelate Handicap 1400m

A post-race veterinary examination revealed Gilded Wings, which raced disappointingly today, to be suffering moderate respiratory distress. A swab sample was taken. Mr M. Dunn, stable foreman for Mr G. Ryan, trainer of Gilded Wings, advised that the mare will now be retired. After the running of this race the track was upgraded to good at 1.04pm.

RACE 2: Reading Handicap 1100m

Prime Century began awkwardly.

Near the 600m Redwood Falls was inclined to get its head up and came into contact with Monte Grande when it endeavoured to shift out away from the heels of Jimmy Walasko.

Fiery Venture lost its footing rounding the home turn.

C. Agnew (Beggar) dropped his whip near the 200m.

A post-race veterinary examination of Jimmy Walasko revealed no abnormality. A swab sample was taken.

RACE 3: Goose Boy Handicap 1000m

Blue Prospect was slow to begin.

When questioned, App. S. Pollard (Up Your Sleeves) stated that his mount travelled reasonably well to the home turn, but did not respond to his riding in the straight. Trainer Mr P. Anderson said that Up Your Sleeves had now been disappointing at its two most recent starts and he would have discussions with the owners as to the future of the gelding.

When questioned, M. Cahill (Amourous) stated that the mare was racing first up today and never travelled at any stage of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of Amourous revealed no abnormality. Trainer Mr D. Ryan stated that Amourous had been in work 12 weeks but he had been hampered in the mare's preparation by the absence of any official trials. Mr Ryan undertook to report to the Stewards if there was anything amiss with Amourous following the race.

RACE 4: AJC Convention Centre Handicap 1550m

Post-race veterinary examinations of Cash Cache and My Carnelian revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken from Cash Cache.

RACE 7: The Diver Welter Handicap 1100m

Irish Prince shifted out at the start hampering Foolish Things and Tyr, which had been slow to begin.

Night To Remember hung out badly throughout the event. Mr N. Perry, representing trainer Mr P. Perry, was advised that Night To Remember must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before it is permitted to race again.

When questioned concerning his riding early in the straight, D. Beasley (Tyr) stated that he angled for a run between Niagara Kate and Cape Howe and after placing his mount under full pressure he felt that racing first up under its big weight its run had ended prior to the finish line. D. Beasley was notified that in the view of the Stewards his riding early in the straight lacked the necessary vigour.

Skoozi's Girl blundered on jumping.

Mica's Pride, which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start when Top Impreza shifted out.
