Race 1 - CAUSEWAY MAZDA MAIDEN PLATE 1700 metres:

On arrival at the barrier "BRILLIANT FANFARE" had to be re-saddled which caused the start of the race to be delayed.

On jumping away "MUGAHOY" shifted out and bumped "WELLINGTON DRIVE".

Shortly after the start "BRIAG" had to be checked when tightened for room by "DESTINATION DUBAI" which shifted in after being brushed by "SIR GALAWAY" which in turn had been brushed by "BRILLIANT FANFARE" when that gelding shifted in away from "PUFF DADDY".

Near the 1200 metres "WELLINGTON DRIVE" (T. Butler) when being eased off the heels of "TOKEN RULER" which had shifted out slightly, shifted in abruptly across the running of "MUGAHOY" resulting in that colt clipping the heels of "WELLINGTON DRIVE" and almost falling. Whilst acknowledging that "WELLINGTON DRIVE" had shifted abruptly Stewards notified Miss T. Butler that she must do her utmost to protect her fellow riders at all times.

Approaching the 200 metres "DESTINATION DUBAI" which had been held up changed course to obtain a run on the outside of "SIR GALAWAY" and in doing so brushed "BRILLIANT FANFARE" which had shifted in slightly.

Race 2 - JANUARY S V 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1) 1500 metres:

Near the 1000 metres "ROSILO" hung out and had to be checked off the heels of "BOORTKOI BREAKER". Shortly after this "ROSILO" again hung out and inconvenienced "ALUNARMIST".
Round the home turn "ALUNARMIST" became unbalanced.

Subsequent to the running of this event, some riders expressed concerns with visibility when riding in this race. After giving consideration to the rider's concerns and having taken into account that the heavy rain which had been falling had eased, the Steward's decided to continue with the meeting.

Race 3 - STC BONUS SERIES SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (2) 1500 metres:

In the straight "BEAUCIEL(NZ)" hung in and proved difficult to ride.

Subsequent to the running of this event several riders stated that they had encountered serious visibility problems throughout the race. Subsequently, the Stewards along with senior riders N. Rawiller and N. Callow inspected a section of the track from the home turn to near the 1000 metres and during that inspection it was evident that a significant amount of surface water was present in divots over a widespread area of the track. After taking into account the amount of surface water evident , the prevailing wet weather conditions, the weather outlook, and, as the Stewards were very concerned with the evident visibility problems being encountered by the rider's, the meeting was postponed at 1.40 p.m.

Race 4 - GIPPSLAND BONUS SERIES MAIDEN PLATE (1) 1400 metres:

Race 5 - CUP FASHIONS MAIDEN PLATE (2) 1400 metres:

Race 6 - KILMANY PARK CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 metres:
