7 "My Queen (NZ)" * G. Childs A. Findlay Indisposed
8 "Spare that Tree" * G. Childs L. Currie  Indisposed

* Must produce medical certificate prior to riding again.

Race 1 - WINTERSET HURDLE - 2800 metres:

G. Crofskey, rider of "Millennium Dancer (NZ)", was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 500 metres the first time when not sufficiently clear of "Our Grades (NZ)" which had switched to the inside of "Millennium Dancer (NZ)" and was making ground, which resulted in "Our Grades (NZ)" having to be checked.

On the home turn "Covet Cross", which was making ground on the outside of "Millennium Dancer", was accidentally struck on the head by the whip of G. Crofskey, rider of "Millennium Dancer (NZ)".

During the running of the race "Boxter Blue" lost its near fore plate.

Race 2 - MARCH SUPER VOBIS FILLIES HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

On jumping away "Larrocha" and "Lashed" bumped.

Race 3 - BEAULIVRE HANDICAP - 2419 metres:

Near the 1300 metres "West Texas", which was improving around the field, shifted in and inconvenienced "Beau Ties".

"West Texas" had a tendency to lay out rounding the turn near the 800 metres, and hung out under pressure in the run to the winning post.

On the home turn "Quietly Adamant" shifted out to improve its position on the outside of "Beau Ties", and took "Tariama (NZ)" out. "Quietly Adamant" then was taken in by "Tariama (NZ)", which shifted in.

Race 4 - IGA NINJA HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Shortly after the start "Souplesse (NZ)" was hampered when tightened for room between "Price of Love" and "Prince Barytes", which shifted out.

Near the 300 metres "Paint" (D. Nikolic) had to be checked off the heels of "Vidual" when disappointed for a run between that gelding and "Prince Barytes". "Prince Barytes" then had to be eased off the heels of "Gifted Ground", which was shifting in. D. Nikolic was notified to ensure that he has sufficient room when attempting runs in future.

Also near the 300 metres "Noble Sun (NZ)" shifted out to improve its position on the outside of "Gifted Ground", and made contact with "Black Widow", unbalancing that mare.

Race 5 - ST. JUDE HANDICAP - 1500 metres:

Acting on a report from the Starter regarding the unruly behaviour of "Shanicity (NZ)" when being placed in its starting stall, the Stewards notified Mr. G. Fennessy, who was representing Mr. McEvoy, trainer, that "Shanicity (NZ)" is now suspended from racing until it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an organized trial, at which time a barrier test certificate must be obtained for the gelding. "Shanicity (NZ)" had been suspended for similar behaviour previously.

As a result of this the start of the race was delayed.

After passing the 1200 metres "Just a Look (NZ)", which was over-racing, had to shift out to avoid the heels of "Clemenger (NZ)".

When the pace slackened near the 1000 metres "Freegold" had to be checked off the heels of "Royal Calcutta", and "Macmiki", which was following, then had to be checked off the heels of "Freegold".

Race 6 - WARATAH HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Near the 1300 metres "Peria", which was over-racing, had to be eased off the heels of "Cinderella Café (NZ)", which shifted in.

In the straight "Tully Law (NZ)", when making ground, was disappointed for a run between "Peria" and "Cinderella Café (NZ)" approaching the 200 metres. "Tully Law (NZ)" then had to change course to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - CHAISE SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

After being placed in its stall "Conscription" reared and struck its head on the structure. Acting on veterinary advice the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Conscription" at 4.09 p.m.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Conscription" be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Conscription" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: Seventeen cents; Place Bets: Fifteen cents; Winning Concession Bets: Seventeen cents, and Doubles Bets: Seventeen cents.

After jumping away "My Queen (NZ)" shifted in, which resulted in its rider, A. Findlay, becoming unbalanced and being dislodged.

In the early part of the straight "Alumni" was disappointed for a run on the inside of "Cherry Orchard" where there was not quite sufficient room.

After passing the 200 metres "She's Archie" shifted out to obtain a run, and took "Blue Jewel" out on to "Vignor", inconveniencing both those horses. M. Pumpa, rider of "She's Archie", was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 8 - BURBERRY SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Ruanaidh" over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

Throughout the race "Careyes" hung in, and for this reason S. Vella had difficulty riding it out over the concluding stages.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.

FINES/EXPLANATIONS:

It was established that N. Stanley had been notified as the rider of "Beau Ties" in accordance with the Rules. (Race 3).
