RACE 1 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY / SABIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division):

D. Azis replaced C. Buchiw as the rider of CLASSIC ROSE, owing to C. Buchiw being injured in a track work accident.

WINDANA (S. Price) was slow to jump.

CLASSIC ROSE (D. Azis) jumped away awkwardly.

At the entrance to the straight TRUZONE (T. Creek) laid out and away from FULL SPEC (Darren Holland), resulting in TRUZONE shifting out and brushing TASS (W. Kerford).

Subsequent to the race NIGHT FANCY was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, who reported the filly was sore in the lower back region. Mr. D. Jolly, Trainer of NIGHT FANCY, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before the filly is accepted for a future event.

RACE 2 – SOUTHERN ARGUS / SABIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division):

D. Azis replaced C. Buchiw as the rider of BLEVERA.

TAX FILES (J. Bowditch) was slow to jump.

FRENCH PRINCESS (T. Creek) jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 3 – WEST END DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE:

Passing the winning post on the first occasion BONNIE WEE CHARLIE (R. Price) shifted in and tightened MARIZZIQUE (H. McKechnie), resulting in the hindquarters of BONNIE WEE CHARLIE being turned out.

R. Price was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Near the 1200 metres IT’S LEGAL (J. Potter), which was inclined to get its head up and shift away from the inside rail, was obliged to steady off the heels of BONNIE WEE CHARLIE (R. Price), which shifted in.

Near the 700 metres BONNIE WEE CHARLIE (R. Price) shifted out onto MARIZZIQUE (H. McKechnie), forcing that gelding wider on the track.

Inside the 400 metres MARIZZIQUE (H. McKechnie) rolled in and tightened BONNIE WEE CHARLIE (R. Price) onto BLEVENCIA (B. Vale), which was inconvenienced. Shortly after BONNIE WEE CHARLIE shifted in and hampered BLEVENCIA.

Subsequent to the event, a Veterinary inspection of BONNIE WEE CHARLIE revealed the gelding suffered a laceration to its off hind cannon during the event.

A routine swab sample was taken from BONNIE WEE CHARLIE, winner of the race.

Subsequent to this event the track rating was upgraded to GOOD.

RACE 4 – VICTORIA ON THE PARK / SABIS 3YO CLASS 1 HANDICAP:

DEER GIRL was withdrawn by Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice, at 1.34 p.m.

Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on DEER GIRL be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 6 cents in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, and
Bets for a PLACE - 8 cents in the dollar from the winnings only.

Approaching the 700 metres CITY PRESS (J. Potter), in being steadied off the heels of IN THE SWIM (L. Smith), shifted out and brushed LESTY PRAYERS (S. Price).

J. Potter reported that as a result of this incident his mount became unbalanced and lost ground for a short distance, and he became concerned about her action for a short distance thereafter.

IN THE SWIM (L. Smith) raced greenly under pressure over the concluding stages.

Inside the 100 metres CITY PRESS (J. Potter) shifted in under riding and brushed LESTY PRAYERS, resulting in that filly becoming unbalanced.

J. Potter was advised to stop riding and straighten his mount in similar circumstances in future.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of CITY PRESS revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore knee.

Ms. E. Cruttenden, Trainer of CITY PRESS, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before the filly is accepted for a future event.

RACE 5 – DAISH IRRIGATION CLASS 1 HANDICAP:

STANSBY (J. Maund) and PALIENTE (W. Kerford) jumped away awkwardly, resulting in those geldings making heavy contact shortly afterwards.

STAR O’WAR (D. Azis) raced fiercely in the early stages of the event.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres KOODA CHINTA (B. Claridge) was obliged to steady when tightened by PRINCE ARCHWAY (C. Lindop), which shifted in and STAR O’WAR (D. Azis), which shifted out.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres RUBIREIGN (J. Bowditch), whilst attempting a run inside STAR O’WAR (D. Azis), was obliged to check and clipped the heels of STAR O’WAR, when that mare commenced to weaken and shifted in. PRINCE ARCHWAY (C. Lindop) was hampered in consequence.

D. Azis was reprimanded and advised of his obligations when shifting ground in future.

At the entrance to the straight STANSBY (J. Maund) was obliged to steady off the heels of SPEEDOVICH (R. Faehr), which was weakening.

SPEEDOVICH suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the race.

Mr. I. Boess, Trainer of SPEEDOVICH, was advised the gelding was now suspended from racing for a period of three months, in accordance with AR 53A.

RACE 6 – MOTREX CLASS 2 HANDICAP:

FUMINO BRIGHTIA (J. Marks) was slow to jump.

A routine swab sample was taken from WILLIAM OF OZ, winner of the race.

RACE 7 – WESTON RAINE & HORNE – STRATHALBYN CLASS 4 HANDICAP:

MILITARY TUNE (Darren Holland) was slow to jump.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres MILITARY TUNE (Darren Holland), which had commenced to race keenly, was obliged to steady off the heels of MISS JEUNE (S. Price).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of SOCIAL ECHO revealed the gelding was exhibiting signs of a soft palate problem. Mr. M. Whittle, Trainer of SOCIAL ECHO, advised that he would experiment with a Tongue Tie on the gelding prior to its next start.

RACE 8 – GARWOOD EARTHMOVERS & CONTRACTORS PTY. LTD. CLASS 3 HANDICAP:

BILLY’S GOSSIP (B. Vale) jumped away awkwardly.

COLOMBO KING lost a near fore plate during the race.

RACE 9 – SEXTON & GLOVER REAL ESTATE COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE:

DIDNEDA (J. Lorensini) was inclined to lay out and race greenly throughout the race, and at various stages the gelding shifted out, away from other runners.
