Race 1 - Super Vobis Two Years Old Maiden Plate - 1000 metres

A B Robertson rider of "Hickok" requested to view the Stewards video of the race prior to correct weight with a view to lodging an objection. After viewing the video together with Mr G Jongebloed, trainer of the gelding, A B Robertson decided not to ledge an objection.

Passing the 200 metres, "Hickok" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Andalay" (V Duric) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. V Duric was reprimanded and notified he must top riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.

After being checked "Hickok" which was racing greenly became unbalanced.

"Highland Buck" hung out throughout the race resulting in P Templeton, the gelding's rider being unable to ride his mount out.

Stewards notified Mrs C Faithfull they were issuing an official warning against "Highland Buck" and should the gelding perform similarly in future, action may be taken against it.

On jumping away "Highland Buck" shifted out and bumped "Andalay".

"Much Likadon" began awkwardly.

D Short rider of "Much Likadon" explained to the Stewards that he had ridden the gelding quietly in the early and middle stages of the race in an effort to keep the horsed balanced as "Much Likadon" is a big striding gelding and its action did not feel comfortable.

On jumping away "Alto Ego" (J Patton) and "Bahamian Rhapsody" (N Callow) came together. "Bahamian Rhapsody" was then tightened on to "Alto Ego" by "Devine Power" (M Pay) which shifted out away from "Hickok" which also shifted out.

"Alto Ego", "Bahamian Rhapsody" and "Devine Power" then raced tightly on the inside due to "Hickok" shifting out and "Colonial Jester" (M Allen) shifting in slightly.

Shortly after this incident "Alto Ego" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Colonial Jester" which shifted in insufficiently. Whilst the Stewards did not hold M Allen fully responsible for the incident, he was reprimanded and notified he must ensure he is clear of other runners in future.

Race 2 - Pakenham Maiden Plate - 2100 metres

During the running of the race "Thrifty Bid" suffered a bleeding attack.

Shortly after jumping away, "British Bounty" (T Carson), was bumped in on to "Miss Runyon" (V Duric) by "Mugahoy" which shifted in slightly. Shortly after this incident "Miss Runyon" was inconvenienced due to "Token Ruler" shifting out slightly.

In the 600 metres "Big Bonus" was tightened on to "Erbourne" by "Exquisite Manners" which shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of "Thrifty Bid" which was weakening quickly.

Race 3 - Racers Entertainment Complex Maiden Plate - 1000 metres

The start of the race was delayed due to "Always Scores" breaking through the front of the gates.

"Red Diversion" began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 4 - Eat Well Live Well Class 1 Handicap - 1600 metres

"Campaign" cast its near fore plate.

"Audrey's Knight" was inconvenienced on jumping away by "He Can Dance" which shifted out.

Rounding the turn near the 1100 metres "Lily Flojay" had to be eased due to "The Boomba" being steadied, as a result "Aqua Caldo" was hampered in consequence.

Approaching the winning post "Campaign" was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of "He Can Dance" (B Fenech). Shortly after this incident "Jack's Reward" was also struck across the head by the whip of "Campaign" (N Callow) when racing tightly between that gelding and "The Boomba" which shifted in slightly.

"O'Beil" hung in under pressure in the straight.

Race 5 - Stony Creek Cup 10th March Class 2 Handicap - 1100 metres

V Duric, rider of "Alluring Eyes" which weakened over the concluding stages stated that apart from the fact that the mare made the home turn awkwardly, he was unable to offer any explanation for "Alluring Eyes" disappointing run, he added that his mount had been under pressure well before the home turn and failed to respond to his riding over the concluding stages.

A veterinary exam of "Alluring Eyes" which had weakened over the concluding stages revealed no apparent abnormality.

Near the 600 metres "King Pyramul" became unbalanced.

L Currie replaced B Park as the rider of "French Snip", an inquiry into the reason for B Park being unavailable to fulfil the engagement was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Race 6 -Schweppes Class 4 Handicap - 1600 metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Mr L McArthur that "Prince Lir" had sustained an injury to an eye the previous night and that he had failed to scratch the gelding by scratching time. The Stewards withdrew the gelding at 9.00am. Mr McArthur must present a veterinary certificate in respect of "Prince Lir" and an inquiry into his failure to scratch the gelding by scratching time was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

The saddle on "Peria" shifted forward in the early stages of the race placing L Coffey at a disadvantage.

Race 7 -Carlton Draught Handicap - 1600 metres

C. Robertson appeared as the rider of "Golden Finale" when in fact A. B. Robertson had been engaged to ride the colt.

Race 8 -Yakkerboo Class 3 Handicap - 2100 metres

"Rising Fine" made the crossing turning out of the straight awkwardly and became unbalanced.

Rounding the home turn "Triomphe De Lamour" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Willunga Lad" which when weakening shifted in away from "Monde Trist".
