        metres:  "HINDMARSH ISLAND" escaped from its handler on
        two occasions and galloped for some distance before being captured. "HINDMARSH
        ISLAND" was then inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and declared unfit to
        run. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "HINDMARSH ISLAND"
        at 11.55 a.m.After being placed in its stall "ATILLA" broke through the front and trotted for
        a short distance before being returned to the barrier. "ATILLA" was then
        inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to run.
 In the straight A. Findlay, rider of "TIMOTHY
        JOHN" accidentally struck "LORD ALFRED", which was hanging in, over the
        head with his whip on two occasions.Near the 200 metres "EUCHRE PRINCESS" which had been racing greenly, had to
        change course to obtain a clear run.
 During the running of the race "SITUATE" suffered
        a bleeding attack. Race 2 - SEJ & CO REAL ESTATE SUPER
        VOBIS THREE YEARS OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1600 metres:  When the gates opened "BRYDAN" shifted in and
        bumped "BUZZ".Near the 200 metres "BUZZ" had to be checked when tightened for room by
        "BRYDAN" which was taken in slightly by "SOUTHESK" (N. Callow). When
        being checked "BUZZ" clipped the heels of "ACROPHILE" and almost fell.
        N. Callow was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
 Race 3 - THE WOOLSET CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100
        metres:  No report. Race 4 - MEENIYAN STOCKFEEDS SUPER VOBIS
        THREE YEARS OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1100 metres:  Shortly after the start "DUKE OF WELLINGTON"
        knuckled.Near the 1000 metres "RENNGAH" shifted out abruptly and hampered "EL
        DARA".
 Race 5 - GREAT SOUTHERN STAR CLASS 1
        HANDICAP 1600 metres:  In the straight "HE CAN DANCE" hung in under
        pressure. Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT STONY CREEK CUP
        2100 metres:  At the barrier "BOORTKOI PHANTOM" was inspected
        by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.Near the 200 metres the first time "BLACKTYPE MAGIC" had to be checked when
        tightened for room by "TARIAMA (NZ)" (A. Findlay) which shifted in when not
        sufficiently clear. A. Findlay was severely reprimanded and was notified to exercise more
        care when in similar circumstances in future.
 Near the 200 metres "BATARSHI" had to be checked when tightened for room by
        "TARIAMA (NZ)" which was taken in slightly by "RISKY VENTURE" which
        was also taken in by "BEWDY JAMES" (D. Smith) which shifted in when not
        sufficiently clear. D. Smith was severely reprimanded and was notified to exercise more
        care when shifting ground in future.
 Race 7 - LEONGATHA RURAL SUPPLIES CLASS 2
        HANDICAP 2100 metres:  During the running of the race "TOKEN RULER" lost
        its off fore plate. Race 8 - BIRCH ROSS & BARLOW FLYING
        HANDICAP 1100 metres:  No report. Race 9 - SESI CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600 metres:  No report. SWAB SAMPLES - Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners:
 Race 1 - A THOUSAND DRINKS.
 Race 2 - EMERALD ZEEL (NZ)
 Race 6 - TARIAMA (NZ).
 Race 8 - GAMERA.
 Random swab samples were taken from the following horses:Race 3 - FRENCH SNIP (third placegetter).
