Race 1 -3YO Maiden Plate - 1150m

Prior to correct weight A. Ledger rider of Don't Tell Em 2ndplacegetter wished to view the Stewards patrol video of the race with the view of lodging an objection. After viewing the video A. Ledger did not proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared. It was established that Don't Tell Em which had a tendency to lay in was disappointed for a run between Robert Henry & Beetee. Near the 900m Waratah Secret which was racing greenly shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of Dalsonic which shifted in away from Robert Henry. When checking Waratah Secret clipped the heels of Dalsonic and knuckled, General's Reward which was following was hampered in consequence. As no one rider was fully responsible stewards took no action. Shortly after this Waratah Secret which continued to hang out had to be eased to avoid the heels of Bomber Boy which shifted in. In the early stages of the race Kelzipper raced ungenerously. Rounding the home turn General's Reward hung out.

Race 2 - 4YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1150m

On jumping away Jack's Boy was hampered when tightened for room between Pyramul Quest and Spirit of Jack which shifted out. When the gates opened Been Laughing was slow to begin. Near the 600m Pyramul Quest & Visibility bumped. Approaching the home turn Lady Valois (NZ) had to be eased off the heels of Spirit of Jack. T. Barry rider of Jack's Boy explained that after passing the 800m the gelding hung out and continued to hang out for the remainder of the race. T Barry further explained that he eased the gelding down in the straight for this reason. Mr V. Hourigan who was representing Mr N Dyer trainer of the gelding was notified that an official warning would be placed against Jack's Boy and prior to racing again he must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an organised trial. A veterinary examination of Jack's Boy subsequent to the event revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3 - 3YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1600m

Prior to correct weight P Beaton rider of Brown Eagle 4th placegetter requested to view the official photo finish print for 3RD place. After viewing the photo finish print P Beaton agreed with the Judge's decision and correct weight was declared. Crystal Draw was slow to begin. Stewards questioned Mr R Griffiths trainer of Active Ruler regarding the gelding's improved performance today. Mr R Griffiths explained that due to the quicker tempo of today's race the gelding was able to settle back in the field which gave it every opportunity of finishing off the race. Near the 400m Brown Eagle had to be eased to avoid the heels of Worth A Mention which shifted out. Shortly after this Brown Eagle (P. Beaton) which shifted out to obtain a run on the outside Crystal Draw & Come On Clyde had to be checked when tightened for room between Worth A Mention which shifted out slightly and Active Ruler (E.Marchant)which shifted in.As no one rider was responsible for the incident Stewards took no action however notified P.Beaton he must have sufficient galloping room when attempting runs in future and also notified E.Marchant to exercise care when shifting ground in future At the entrance to the straight Spanish Lover had to be eased to avoid the heels of Crystal Draw which was weakening. J. Tong rider of Spanish Lover explained that the gelding felt sore on pulling up in it's near fore leg. Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that there were no abnormalities with the gelding.

Race 4 - Class 1 Handicap - 1600m

Approaching the 1200m Allez Fraar shifted in slightly resulting in Truculent being taken in onto Cheval Marie who also shifted in resulting in Trebuchet having to be eased off that mares heels. Near the 700m Oakhill Dancer shifted in and brushed Allez Fraar resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced. Rounding the home turn Cheval Marie had to be checked off the heels of Oakhill Dancer which was weakening. When checking Cheval Marie clipped the heels of Oakhill Dancer and knuckled. B. Park rider of Oakhill Dancer explained to the Stewards that he eased the filly down in the straight as he believed something was amiss with Oakhill Dancer. Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that Oakhill Dancer had a laceration to its near side hindquaters.

Race 5 - Handicap - 1400m

 Shortly after the start A Regal Dane had to be checked when tightened for room between Bush Beauty and Jack's Daniel which was taken out by Vain Tycoon. At the entrance to the straight Idle Bruce had to be checked when tightened for room between A Regal Dane which after being brushed on its hindquarters shifted in slightly and Vain Tycoon (L Nolen) which shifted out to obtain a run on the outside of Toreador. L Nolen was notified to exercise care when attempting runs in future. Approaching the winning post Bush Beauty had to be eased to avoid the heels of Jack's Daniel which shifted in slightly.

Race 6 - Class 2 Handicap - 1400m

B. Park rider of Mascarilla who performed poorly explained to the Stewards that the mare never travelled well at any stage of the race and when put under pressure near the 700m failed to respond to his riding. B. Park further added that Mascarilla was showing signs of shin soreness. Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that Mascarilla was shin sore.

Race 7 - Class 1 Handicap - 1150m

Gostani was slow to begin. Near the 1000m Are You Serious shifted in and bumped Anatolia.

Race 8 - Class 3 Handicap - 1150m -  

No report.

Race 5 - A Regal Dane, winner of the race.

Fines & Explanations

Race 6 - R. McMullen rider of Romany Princess 5th placegetter was severely reprimanded for failing to weigh in on the mare.
