Race 1 - 3YO Maiden Plate - 2000m

Miss M Payne rider of Day Trader, which performed poorly and was eased down in the home straight stated that the gelding was a beaten horse when placed under pressure after passing the 1000metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2 - 3YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1150m

After being placed in its barrier stall Test became fractious, reared and struck its head on the top cross member of its stall and then became cast. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had fatally injured itself. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Test at 1.18pm. This incident caused the start of the race to be delayed for some time. Subsequent to the event Stewards ordered the following deductions in regard to betting. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Test to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Test to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets 6c, Place Bets 7c, Winning Concession Bets 6c, Doubles Bets 6c. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of the ticket. On jumping away Blazing Plane and Theresa's Courage came together.

Race 3 - Maiden Plate - 1600m

Approaching the 600metres Caspa shifted out and took Gorbachov out off its course. C. Symons rider of Caspa was charged with careless riding. The careless riding being that near the 500m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Bonoval thereby tightening that gelding in onto Siraami resulting in Bonoval being severely hampered and Siraami having to be severely checked. As C. Symons requested his Master Mr. A. Williams to be present at the inquiry Stewards adjourned the matter to a date to be fixed.

Race 4 - F & M Class 1 Handicap - 1600m

No report.

Race 5 - Cup - 1600m

Prior to the event Stewards received a phone call from Mr. R. Griffiths trainer of Declare who requested to scratch the gelding due to the down grading of the track rating. After confirming the telephone call Stewards acceded to Mr. Griffith's request and ordered the withdrawal of Declare at 11.20am. Prior to correct weight being declared B. Rawiller rider of Classic Secret 2nd placegetter and Mr L. Treloar, the trainer of the gelding requested to view the Stewards patrol video of the concluding stages of the race with the view to lodging an objection. After viewing the patrol video B. Rawiller and Mr. L. Treloar decided not to lodge an objection. Passing the 50m A Regal Dane shifted in and brushed Classic Secret.

Race 6 - Class 2 Handicap - 1400m

No report.

Race 7 - Class 1 Handicap - 1100m

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Director had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Race 8 - Class 4 Handicap - 2000m

Tawbalt was slow to begin. When negotiating the crossing near the 1600m Bastille Rule faltered. Subsequent to the event Bastille Rule, which had weakened badly from the 800m onwards was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who reported no apparent abnormalities. On pulling up S. Vella rider of Tigeron dismounted as he believed the gelding was sore behind.
