 Race 1 - 3-Y-O & UP
MAIDEN PLATE (1850 METRES) Acting on a report from the Starter that GOLDEN CORN had
been difficult to load into the stalls Stewards notified Mr. Austin Coffey, representing
Trainer David Miller, that an official warning would be placed against the gelding and
should GOLDEN CORN behave in a similar manner in future action may be taken. Mr. Coffey
was further notified that before GOLDEN CORN would be permitted to start again Mr. David
Miller must be in receipt of a Barrier Test in respect of the gelding. Approaching the 1400 metres JARRAH threw its head in the
air when being eased. Mr. Daniel Madden when questioned regarding the improved
performance of KING KILLARNEY, winner of the race, stated to the Stewards that today the
horse was more settled at the Races and he has varied his training program this
preparation and in his opinion the horse today was suited by the longer journey and also
this track. Race 2 - SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE
(1600 METRES) Near the 1000 metres STAR OF PARADISE hung in. Race 3 - CARLTON DRAUGHT FILLIES & MARES
MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES) PURTILLA MISS was slow to begin. Acting on a report from the Starter that WEE SWELTER (NZ)
was reluctant to go to the barrier Stewards notified Mr. Brett Hollinshead, Trainer of the
mare, that an official warning would be placed against WEE SWELTER (NZ) and should the
mare behave in a similar manner in future it may lead to some action. Race 4 - GEORGE TAYLOR STORES CLASS 2 HANDICAP
(1400 METRES) No report. Race 5 - WARRNAMBOOL CHEESE & BUTTER TERANG
CUP (2150 METRES) Owing to a float break down, and as INFLEWINZER and VITELLI
had failed to arrive on course, Stewards withdrew INFLEWINZER and VITELLI at 2.09 p.m.
Stewards ruled there be no alteration to betting. After passing the winning post the first time MR. TRAVOLTA
which was over-racing had to be checked off the heels of SILVERBIT which shifted in. In the early stages of the race SILVERBIT over-raced. Near
the 1000 metres SILVERBIT brushed the running rail. Approaching the 900 metres SILVERBIT
brushed the running rail. Marc Munday rider of MR. TRAVOLTA dropped his whip near the
400 metres. Ben Smith rider of THE RED DIMPLE (NZ) was notified that he
must ride all his mounts out to the end of the race. Race 6 - BOOK CITY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon
reported that HOO ROO, which had pulled up lame, was sore in both hind legs. Near the 500 metres BELLBRAE LASS had to be eased off the
heels of HOO ROO. Race 7 - DARRIAN OFFICE SUPPLIES OPEN HANDICAP
(1200 METRES) Prior to correct weight Dean Yendall rider of CHIEF IN
CHARGE and Matthew Williams Trainer of the gelding wished to view the Stewards Patrol
video from the 800 metres to the winning post. After viewing the videos Dean Yendall rider
of CHIEF IN CHARGE lodged an objection against PONENTINA being declared a winner on the
grounds of alleged interference from the 800 metres to the 500 metres also approaching the
winning post. After hearing all the evidence from all parties concerned Stewards dismissed
the objection. It was established that approaching the 800 metres GENERAL FEELGOOD shifted
out towards CHIEF IN CHARGE and approaching the winning post PONENTINA and CHIEF IN CHARGE
both shifted out under pressure. Dean Yendall rider of CHIEF IN CHARGE was notified that
in the Stewards' opinion his protest was bordering on being frivolous. Race 8 - RUTTERS RACE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS 3 HANDICAP
(1200 METRES) Ben Smith was reprimanded for failing to make the weight on
GULFSTREAM and Ben Smith was further notified that he must ensure he accepts rides inside
his weight bracket. On jumping away GULFSTREAM threw its head in the air.  QUICK ASALIE jumped away awkwardly. Also on jumping away GULFSTREAM was tightened for room
between KHAPTERINO (NZ) which shifted out and SMYTZER'S POWER which shifted in. Rounding the home corner HEIRORAAMI raced tight on the
inside of KHAPTERINO (NZ). For the entire length of the straight HEIRORAAMI was held
up for a run. Approaching the 200 metres KHAPTERINO (NZ) was held up for
a run. After passing the 200 metres KHAPTERINO (NZ) had to be checked when tightened for
room between GULFSTREAM and PARLOURS which shifted out under pressure. KHAPTERINO (NZ)
then brushed the hind-quarters of GULFSTREAM which then turned that gelding in. GULFSTREAM
then shifted in which resulted in KHAPTERINO (NZ) having to be severely checked off the
heels of GULFSTREAM. As the Stewards did not hold any one rider fully responsible for any
of these incidents Stewards took no action.  SWAB SAMPLESRace 1 -KING KILLARNEY - Winner
