        (B. Claridge) was held up for a short distance and obliged to steady off the heels of WISE
CRACKER (J. Maund), when taken in by SIAM (J. Holder), which had been tightened by

owing to KOODA HURRY, which had become restless in the gates , becoming cast and
sustaining lacerations to both hind legs. Acting on Veterinary advice KOODA HURRY was
scratched at 12.41 p.m. by order of Stewards. Stewards ruled that all monies invested on

LOCKMASTER (C. Lindop) was slow to jump. Approaching the 400 metres JAMATRE (D.
OHeare), which had commenced to improve under pressure, had to be steadied and
clipped the heels of DEVITO (D. Tootell), which had rolled in. D. OHeare became
severely unbalanced as a result of this incident. In the vicinity of the 100 metres
LOCKMASTER (C. Lindop) was disappointed when attempting a tight run outside TERMINUS
PRINCE (J. Holder), and inside BAROSSA SCHOLAR (S. Price), which shifted in. Shortly
after, LOCKMASTER was again disappointed when attempting a run outside SALLY ROSE (B.
Claridge) and inside TERMINUS PRINCE, as a result of both runners shifting ground. As a
result, LOCKMASTER was obliged to steady and shifted out abruptly, contacting REGION (NZ)
        (P. Gatt), which was hampered. C. Lindop was advised to take greater care
when shifting ground in future. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of ORMISTON revealed the gelding was slightly sore in the off fore leg. Subsequent to the race TERMINUS PRINCE
exhibited a slow respiratory recovery. An endoscopic examination revealed TERMINUS PRINCE
had a lower airway infection. RACE 4: SMOKE-FREE HANDICAP SUNTURWASI (J. Bowditch) and YOUNG
LOVER (G. Dorol) jumped away awkwardly. Near the !000 metres BRIEF TRUTH (P. Gatt)
was obliged to steady off the heels of THE STRONGEST LINK (B. Claridge), which shifted in.
        B. Claridge was severely reprimanded and advised in future to give riders on his inside
the room to which they are entitled. Shortly after this incident ITS AN
HONOUR (C. Bryant) shifted out making the turn out of the back straight, resulting in
BRIEF TRUTH being inconvenienced and FULL BOAR (C. Lindop) being obliged to race wider on
the track. In the vicinity of the 900 metres
SUNTURWASI (J. Bowditch), which had commenced to race keenly, was obliged to steady off
the heels of ITS AN HONOUR (C. Bryant). At the entrance to the straight BRIEF TRUTH
        (P. Gatt) hung out. Subsequent to the race an endoscopic
examination of CLASSIC ROSE revealed the filly had bled internally. J. Lorensini, rider of the 5th
Placegetter KOODA TIARA, was questioned regarding him returning to Scale in excess of half
a kilogram over his declared weight. J. Lorensini was fined $200 for being in breach of AR
145 and given notice that having regard to his record, future breaches of this Rule would
result in either a larger fine or a suspension being considered. RACE 5: CLIPSAL HANDICAP The start of this race was delayed
owing to KURT being fractious in the barriers and becoming cast. KURT was withdrawn by Stewards at 4.01
p.m., acting on Veterinary advice that the gelding had sustained lacerations to its off
hind hock. Stewards ruled that all monies invested
on KURT be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value

STRETTA (J. Potter) jumped away awkwardly. S. Price, rider of HOUSE GUEST, reported
his mount had hung out throughout the race. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of HOUSE GUEST revealed the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. When questioned regarding his riding of ALL
CHEER in the early stages, W. Kerford explained he had expected the gelding would either
lead or race outside the leader. He stated that he had attempted to ride forward after
jumping. However, whereas his mount usually began well and put itself into a forward
position, it did not respond to his riding. Near the 1000 meters he had decided not to
persist with this tactic and looked to get a trail a horse off the fence behind HOUSE
GUEST (S. Price). He added that he had been unable to achieve this due to CHEERS POP (B.
Claridge) taking that position, resulting in ALL CHEER being obliged to race three wide.
Stewards noted W. Kerfords explanation. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of ALL CHEER failed to reveal any visible abnormalities. When questioned regarding his riding of
DEES DANCER in the early and middle stages, M. Hoppo explained that he and the
geldings Trainer, Mr. J. Vandermyle, had agreed DEES DANCER should be ridden
forward in todays race. M. Hoppo added that after attempting to ride his mount
forward shortly after the start, he had made an assessment, approaching the first turn,
that he would be caught wide and for that reason had elected to drift back in the field.
Stewards noted M. Hoppos explanation. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of DEES DANCER revealed the gelding was slightly lame in the near fore
leg. CHEERS POP lost its near fore plate during
the race. RACE 6: SCHWEPPES HANDICAP Near the 1500 metres METEORA (S.
Cahill) was obliged to steady when tightened by GILDED STAR (G. Dorol), which shifted in. From the entrance to the straight until
inside the 200 metres MOET NOW (J. Bowditch) was unable to obtain clear running. METEORA lost its off fore plate during the
race. RACE 7: MALAYSIA AIRLINES HANDICAP On jumping away VERDOT (D.
OHeare) when tightened by BRAVE ENCOUNTER (S. Cahill), which shifted in, at the same
time as MISTY GALORE (J. Holder) was taken out by FLICKS IMAGE (D. Tootell). Inside the 1200 metres FLICKS IMAGE
        (D. Tootell) lost its position when tightened by MISTY GALORE (J. Holder), and taken in
onto LA SUPREMO (J. Bowditch), which became unbalanced. J. Holder was reprimanded and advised in
future to ensure that he was clear of other runners before shifting ground. Near the 1000 metres VERDOT (D.
OHeare) got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance. FLICKS IMAGE (D. Tootell) got its
head up and made the turn out of the back straight awkwardly, resulting in the gelding
shifting out and hampering KING CROW (B. Claridge). When questioned regarding his riding of
WILDFIRE, K. Post explained that he had been instructed to ride the gelding forward and to
try and obtain a position one off the fence in the early stages of the race. K. Post
further stated that after finding himself four horses wide in the vicinity of the 800
metres, he had elected to persevere in riding forward and eventually obtained a position
three wide. He added that he felt the effort had told on his mount and it had commenced to
weaken prior to the 200 metres. K. Post was advised his explanation would be reported. Approaching the 400 metres LA SUPREMO (J.
Bowditch), in attempting to obtain a run, shifted out and contacted BRAVE ENCOUNTER (S.
Cahill), which attempted to hold its ground. At the same time WILDFIRE (K. Post) rolled
out, resulting in LA SUPREMO and BRAVE ENCOUNTER making contact on several occasions.
Shortly after, BRAVE ENCOUNTER shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of LA SUPREMO. SWABBING Race 1 CONTRIVED    Race 2 AGALIA
