awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, taking NANCY ELEANOR (T Creek) out onto TAIPAN ANNIE
(D Azis), resulting in TAIPAN ANNIE being inconvenienced and NANCY ELEANOR losing its
position. In the vicinity of the 700 FLASH HENRY
shifted out and brushed TAIPAN ANNIE (D Azis). NANCY ELEANOR raced greenly in the early
stages, and after improving outside the heels of CYCLES (W Kerford), inside the 600
metres, commenced to lay in badly. T Creek, rider of NANCY ELEANOR, reported that over the
precluding 100 metres NANCY ELEANOR was inclined to lay in to an extent that she proved
difficult to ride. A routine swab sample was taken from THANKS
A BUNDLE (J Maund), winner of the race. Race 3: Zonta Para Districts Handicap Near the 500 metre mark CORPS COMMANDER (J Holder) shifted
in onto EXALTED LAD (J Nevin). Racing to the 400 metres EXALTED LAD (J
Nevin), when attempting a tight run inside CORPS COMMANDER, was taken in by that gelding,
resulting in EXALTED LAD being taken in onto the hindquarters of STAND BY ME (C Buchiw),
which were turned and as a result STAND BY ME shifted out, resulting in EXALTED LAD
becoming severely unbalanced and losing its position. J Holder was found guilty of a charge of Careless
Riding under ARR 137(a), in that he permitted his mount to shift in and failed to
attempt to relieve that pressure over some distance. J Holder was suspended from riding

Lorensini) shifted out and brushed ALL THE ACTION (G Hoobin). When questioned regarding his riding of ALL
THE ACTION, G Hoobin explained that in the early part of the race he had attempted to
obtain a position one off the fence behind EVANS (T Creek), however due to the positioning
of ASTROLANTE (J Lorensini), he was unable to do so and was obliged to race three wide. G
Hoobin stated that in the vicinity of the 1400 metres he had become aware that he would be
unable to obtain cover, and had made an assessment that the pace of the race was not as
genuine as he would have liked. He added that he had elected to sit three wide, as he
believed that taking his mount back in the field was not an option due to the pace of the
race, however had decided not to press forward to obtain a position closer to the fence,
because he believed that he could not have done so prior to the 800 metres, whereafter he
would be concerned that more pace would come into the race, to his mounts detriment.
Stewards advised G Hoobin his explanation was noted, however informed him that in future
he would be expected to display greater initiative than he had on this occasion. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of ALL THE ACTION failed to reveal any visible abnormalities. A veterinary inspection of DEACONESS,
following the race, revealed the mare had severely damaged its off foreleg during the
race. Mr B Searle, trainer of DEACONESS, was

DANCER (P Gatt) was obliged to steady off the heels of HOUSE GUEST (S Price), which had
been taken in by ALL CHEER (D Azis). D Azis was severely reprimanded and advised in
future to give riders the room to which they are entitled. In the vicinity of the 1000 metres DEES
DANCER (P Gatt) got its head up when being restrained off the heels of HOUSE GUEST. Approaching the 400 metres JUROMA (S
Camilleri) was held up for a short distance before being disappointed for a run inside
DEES DANCER (P Gatt). In attempting to improve its position, JUROMA had shifted out onto
DEES DANCER, taking that gelding out onto LUCYS GIFT (B Vale), which was tightened
onto KELTRITA (J Maund) and lost its position. After being disappointed JUROMA shifted out
and inconvenienced LUCY GIFT (B Vale). Inside the 400 metres HOUSE GUEST (S Price)
shifted out onto ON THE SNIP (J Nevin). S Camilleri, rider of JUROMA, was
questioned regarding her riding of the gelding over the concluding stages. After
considering the explanation S Camilleri was severely reprimanded and advised in
future to rider her mounts to the finish of a race. Correct weight for this event was delayed
to allow C Buchiw, rider of KING CROW, to view the official head on film of the concluding
stages. A routine swab sample was taken from ON THE
SNIP, winner of the race. Race 7: Zonta Noarlunga Southern Vales Handicap Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of AFTER BUENE (M Hoppo) revealed the mare had jarred up in both forelegs. Near the 300 metres MADE FOR REAL (D
Tootell) rolled in, at the same time as DANCERKOV (B Claridge) rolled out, resulting in
those geldings making contact. A routine swab sample was taken from
OUTSIDE THE SQUARE winner of the race. Race 8: International Year of Volunteers Handicap ADDITION (B Claridge) was withdrawn by
stewards at 3:42 pm, acting on Veterinary advice, that the gelding was exhibiting signs of
colic. M Hoppo, rider of MOOTIARA, reported to
Stewards that inside the 700 metres. when SNIPALLAH (G Hoobin) improved to his outside,
MOOTIARA had commenced to over-race and rather than work against his mount he had elected
to stride forward. After entering the straight MAWHOOB (S. Price) was unable
to obtain clear ground until 50 metres from the finish. UNDERTONE (J. Lorensini) was held up for a short distance
near the 200 metres. A routine swab sample was taken from DIMNESS, winner of the
