Rail: In the normal position for both tracks.

RACE 1: SPORTINGBET AUSTRALIA HANDICAP – 1000m

SALLY ROSE (J Maund) was slow to jump.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres AUTUMN BELLE (W Kerford), which was inclined to lay out and OL’ BLUE EYES (B Park) brushed.

D Oliver the rider of CHALONNAISE (NZ) explained that his mount had travelled well in running, however, in the vicinity of the 300 metres when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. CHALONNAISE (NZ) was inspected by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. Mr A J McEvoy the trainer of the mare confirmed that he would recommend to the owners that CHALONNAISE (NZ) now be retired.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MYSTIC GREY and AUTUMN BELLE revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 2: REDBOOK INVICTA CARPETS HANDICAP – 2000m

Prior to the start WHAT REPORT was examined by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Acting on that advice Stewards withdrew WHAT REPORT at 12.34pm.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on WHAT REPORT be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 4 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 5 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are subject to the deductions.

Inside the 500 metres CAPTO (S Baster) was held up for a short distance. S Baster the rider of CAPTO reported that filly appeared to be short in its action over the concluding stages. CAPTO was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the filly to be favouring its near hind leg.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of SIMULATE revealed that mare to be suffering atrial fibrillation. Mr B Brook trainer of SIMULATE was advised that the results of a ECG would be required to be provided to the TRSA Veterinary Surgeon prior to SIMULATE performing satisfactory in a trial before accepting for a future event.

Subsequent to the race Stewards ordered COMFORTS to be examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that horse had left the course. Mr D Pannell representing Mr J Hawkes was questioned in relation to this matter. After considering the explanation tendered Stewards found Mr Pannell guilty of a charge under ARR 8 (e) and fined him $200.

RACE 3: ALCOHOL GO-EASY STAKES - 1500m

Acting on confirmed advice from Mr N Auld representing Mrs G Waterhouse, Stewards withdrew HANDSOME COLOURS at 9.45am owing to the gelding being sore in its off foot.

After being loaded, FIRENZA commenced to kick out in the gates and got its hind legs over the back gates of the starting stall sustaining lacerations to both hind legs. FIRENZA was examined by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon who ruled the filly unfit to start. Acting on that advice FIRENZA was withdrawn by Stewards at 1.11pm.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on FIRENZA be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 27 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 29 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are subject to the deductions.

LASHED (S Baster) was slow to jump and then was slow into stride despite the riding of S Baster.

Near the 800 metres TYRFING (Damien Holland) was obliged to steady off the heels of MORE THAN FAIR (S Price), which shifted in.

Near the 400 metres FAMILY ADDITION (NZ) (N Callow) shifted in abruptly resulting in TYRFING (Damien Holland) being forced to check off its heels.

C Lindop the rider of NEPTUNE ISLAND dropped her whip in the vicinity of the 300 metres. C Lindop was fined $50 for Carelessness under ARR 137(a).

RACE 4: WIDDEN STUD STAKES – 1600m

EASY LANDING (S Cahill jumped away awkwardly.

FINNISS LADY (C Lever) was slow to jump.

Near the 800 metres SECRET HAZE (K McEvoy) was obliged to steady off the heels of PEPPI THE PUG (C Brown).

Inside the 400 metres DANDIFY (D Oliver) shifted out to obtain a run and brushed BRICKLIN’S BROTHER (T Creek) taking that gelding out brushing MARRON CHEVAL (J Maund).

RACE 5: THE VEUVE CLICQUOT STAKES – 2000m

ALBERO (S Baster) was slow to jump.

At the entrance to the straight SATURDAY FEVER (P Gatt) shifted out and tightened TORMENTUS (J Holder) on to REDINESS (N Rawiller).

Approaching the 400 metres SATURDAY FEVER (P Gatt) shifted out and inconvenienced TORMENTUS (J Holder) taking that gelding out on to REDINESS (N Rawiller).

Stewards questioned D Oliver, the rider of OUR KAZZ (NZ) and Mr C Ritchie trainer of that gelding into the apparent change of riding tactics used today. D Oliver explained that at the gelding’s previous start at Morphettville it had drawn wide and he had elected to ride it back in the field. He stated that it was the intention to be close to the pace in today’s race but not necessarily to lead, however, due to the reluctance of other riders to lead D Oliver added that he was happy to allow OUR KAZZ (NZ) to stride forward.

It had travelled kindly until inside the 800 metres when joined by THUNDER HAWK. D Oliver also reported that shortly after entering the straight OUR KAZZ (NZ) had shifted out and had appeared to lose concentration. Mr Ritchie confirmed that he had given D Oliver no specific instructions and added that OUR KAZZ (NZ) had led throughout in its only win in New Zealand. Mr Ritchie also stated that OUR KAZZ (NZ) had pleased the stable in the lead up to today’s event. D Oliver and Mr Ritchie were advised that their explanations would be recorded.

SATURDAY FEVER which returned to scale with blood on both hind legs was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to have reopened old wounds over the near hind tendon.

RACE 6: SCHWEPPES OAKS – 2000m

CANDY (NZ) (D Bradley) was slow to jump.

At the entrance to the straight, ARBORETUM (C Brown) shifted out and brushed EMBRACEABLE YOU (S Arnold).

Subsequent to the race CLOTHILDE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the filly to have a laceration to the off hind hip and to be slightly lame in the off fore leg.

Subsequent to the race EMBRACEABLE YOU (NZ) was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported slight lameness in the near hind leg.

RACE 7: HONDA STAKES – 1000m

Acting on confirmed telephone advice from Mr M Seyers, trainer of EL VANA that the mare had sustained swelling to its off hind leg. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of that EL VANA at 10.37am.

JOHN’S BROTHER (C Brown) jumped away awkwardly.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres ROMILADA (Darren Holland) was accidentally struck across the nose by the whip of A Findlay the rider of LIBIDINIOUS.

Approaching the finish ROMILADA (Darren Holland) was inconvenienced by LIBIDINIOUS (A Findlay), which rolled out.

Correct weight for this race was delayed to allow N Rawiller rider of WINDIGO and A Findlay rider of LIBIDINIOUS to view the official photo image of the finish, and for Darren Holland rider of ROMILADA to view the Steward’s footage of the concluding stages. Darren Holland declined to proceed with an objection. Stewards considered a submission from A Findlay, however, after viewing the official image with the Senior Judge Mr C Kutcher, who confirmed his original decision, Stewards declared Correct Weight.

RACE 8: HONDA MILE – 1600m

MULTI WIN (P Mertens) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 300 metres BELTELLO (Damien Holland) was inconvenienced when attempting a tight run inside CHADING (S Price), which rolled in.

P Carbery the rider of ESQUILAX reported that colt was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
