RACE 1: WWW.ORRCON.COM.AU HANDICAP

D Cleaver the rider of BRINKLEY LASS reported that on jumping away he lost the use of his near side iron and that he did not have use of it for the first 100 metres of the event.

Approaching the 900 metres ZIGOMAR (D Short) was obliged to steady away from the heels of MISS VICTORY (W Kerford), which shifted out. W Kerford was reprimanded and advised to shift ground in future only when entitled to do so.

After passing the finish, POP’S PROSPECT dislodged B Claridge and fell. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that POP’S PROSPECT suffered a compound dislocation of its near fetlock. B Claridge was examined by the Club’s Doctor who determined he would examine B Claridge prior to his remaining engagements.

RACE 2: ORRCON SPRINT

SCAFFOLD (W Kerford) was slow to jump.

ALRAMIL (S Harrison) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 800 metres RACHAEL’S PRIDE (P Gatt) shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of PRINCESS ANNANDON (J Lorensini), which was momentarily unbalanced.

In the vicinity of the 700 metres PINE’S PARADE (S Price) shifted in and tightened KEEP THE NOTE (R Faehr) resulting in that filly becoming inconvenienced.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres the saddle of WANNA PLAY CHICKEN (M Hoppo) commenced to shift to the offside disadvantaging M Hoppo in the riding of that filly over the concluding stages.

Inside the 100 metres PINE’S PARADE (S Price) shifted out and away from REGICIDE (D Holland), which had shifted out.

Mr J Lockyer trainer of ALI OPAL reported the filly got its tongue over the bit during the race.

RACE 3: ORRCON ALLGAL HANDICAP

P Gatt replaced G Dorol as the rider of STAR JOE (NZ) as G Dorol sustained an injury during track work in the morning.

The start of this race was delayed owing to the off fore plate of LORD KINGSTON having to be replaced.

At the entrance to the straight MUSTINAIR (B Vale) which was inclined to lay out got its head up and shifted out and away from STAR JOE (NZ) (P Gatt).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of PONTEVEDRA revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 4: ORRCON MINI PAK HANDICAP

S Price the rider of SOUTHERN SPUR reported that approaching the entrance to the straight his mount had commenced to lay out and when entering the straight had shifted out and continued to lay on one rein for the remainder of the event.

BRIEF TRUTH (M Hoppo) laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of BRIEF TRUTH) revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MISS NOVAMONTE revealed no visible abnormalities. An endoscopic examination of MISS NOVAMONTE revealed this filly was showing signs of intermittent respiratory impairment.

RACE 5: ORRCON PRECISION HANDICAP

Racing to the 900 metres OTTOBELLO (J Maund) got its head up and raced ungenerously whilst being restrained as the pace in the race slackened. In consequence RENANO BRIGHTIA (P Gatt) was obliged to check off the heels of OTTOBELLO (J Maund) and BLUE BROCCO (C Buchiw) was hampered.

Inside the 700 metres SAVAGE ATTACK (T Creek) was obliged to steady off the heels of OUR COMET (J Lorensini), which shifted in.

Near the 200 metres PRAY IN VAIN (S Cahill) shifted out and brushed OTTOBELLO (J Maund), which was inclined to lay away from that gelding.

J Lorensini the rider of OUR COMET was questioned regarding his returning to the scales overweight. After considering the evidence of J Lorensini and the Clerk of Scales Mr T Morgan he was charged with having breached ARR 145. He was found guilty and fined $400. In arriving at that penalty Stewards noted that he had been previously advised that continuing breaches would result in an increase fine or a suspension. This advice was reaffirmed.

RACE 6: ORRCON PIPE & TUBE HANDICAP

METEORA (D O’Heare) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the race.

Inside the 400 metres EVANS (T Creek) was held up for a short distance when racing behind DARK BANNER (J Holder) and inside METEORA (D O’Heare).

DHOLIMA’S DAUGHTER sustained a laceration to the near hind cannon during the race.

RACE 7: STEELING THE FUTURE ORRCON HANDICAP (1)

BONZER BLUE, which had been restless in the gates reared and struck its head, was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

UMANOOLA stood in the gates and missed the start by several lengths. Mr A Opperman the trainer of UMANOOLA was advised that a repetition of that mare’s behaviour may lead to action being taken against it.

FROZE (J Lyon) shifted in on jumping away tightening ZIP INFATUATION (C Lever).

Shortly after the start FROZE (J Lyon) continued to lay in and as a result ZIP INFATUATION (C Lever) clipped the heels of that mare.

FROZE (J Lyon) continued to lay in and over raced until approximately the 1000 metres and brushed the running rail on its own accord.

In the early part of the straight FROZE (J Lyon) was held up for some distance.

RACE 8: ORCON SMART COTE HANDICAP

J Potter replaced B Claridge as the rider of TARTAN ARMY.

MR ICEMAN (B Vale) jumped away awkwardly.

On jumping away ROAD CLOSED (P Marks) shifted out and tightened APPEALING BELL (J Holder), which lost its position.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres NORTH CORNER (S Price) rolled out and brushed PRETTY ORDINARY (H McKechnie), which reacted away at the same time as ROAD CLOSED (P Marks) shifted in resulting in PRETTY ORDINARY (H McKechnie) being obliged to steady.

Near the 500 metres DORADOS (D Tootell) was obliged to steady off the heels of PRETTY ORDINARY (H McKechnie), which rolled in.

At the entrance to the straight DORADOS (D Tootell), which was inclined to lay in was obliged to steady off the heels of PRETTY ORDINARY (H McKechnie) which had been shifted out by STORA BOLLAR (W Kerford).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres MOTTO BELLE (L Meech) shifted in and as a result APPEALING BELL (J Holder) was obliged to steady for a stride.

Inside the 200 metres THE BIG FELLA (C Lever), which had commenced to weaken was obliged to steady off the heels of NORTH CORNER (S Price), which shifted out to improve its position.

Approaching the finish MOTTO BELLE (L Meech) shifted in and away from TAHNEE (T Creek) and as a result clipped the heels of ROAD CLOSED (P Marks) unbalancing L Meech.

Over the concluding 200 metres APPEALING BELL (J Holder) was unable to obtain clear ground.

C Lever the rider of THE BIG FELLA reported although his mount was obliged to race three wide he had traveled well until in the vicinity of the 600 metres when it became pressured. At the entrance to the straight he had commenced to ride his mount and felt that approaching the 200 metres he was not responding to his riding.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of THE BIG FELLA failed to reveal any visible abnormality.

DORADOS lost its near hind shoe during the race.

DORADOS sustained injury to its near hind fetlock during the race.

Subsequent to the race TAHNEE was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormality.

PRETTY ORDINARY sustained a laceration to its off hind fetlock during the race.

RACE 9: ORRCON CORPORATE HANDICAP (2)

L Meech replaced B Claridge as the rider of MISTER MANDEREE.

PRE RACE TESTING

Blood Samples were taken from the following horses for the purpose of TCO2 testing:

LITTLE NEECO, KEYMARK, ZIP INFATUATION, COOL PRINCE, BAD BOY BUCK, SEREIN, TOP CHANCE, ACCELERATING, DARK BANNER, METEORA, EVANS, MAGIC BEN, AMA STAR, KNIGHT’S PASSAGE.
