RACE 1 –BRIAN CARR HURDLE - 2800m

YOUNG WILLY (H Jenkins) jumped the first hurdle awkwardly.

SHIP OF DREAMS (J Julian) jumped the third hurdle on the first occasion badly.

YOUNG WILLY (H Jenkins) hit the hurdle hard in the vicinity of the 1000 metres.

SHIP OF DREAMS (J Julian) landed awkwardly after jumping the hurdle inside the 400 metres.

KASTABON lost a near fore plate in running.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of YOUNG WILLY revealed the gelding had returned with sore back muscles.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of SHIP OF DREAMS revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 2 – MONDE BLEU AT BULLAROOK HANDICAP - 1300m

PIPKIN was a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 12.25pm when the filly kicked out and became cast in the mounting enclosure. All monies invested on PIPKIN were to be refunded. No other alterations to betting.

Trainer Mr B Brook was advised that a warning had been placed on PIPKIN in relation to its behaviour en route to the barrier.

JAMEELA (S Price) jumped in at the start and bumped HOYDEN (W Kerford), which in turn shifted in and bumped KATTAVIA (J Holder) resulting that horse losing its position.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres ELUSIVE LOVER (C Lindop), which was showing a tendency to race greenly, shifted out and bumped KATTAVIA (J Holder).

In the vicinity of the 500 metres DANCING LASS (J Maund) and IMPULSIVE REALITY (J Bowditch) bumped on several occasions.

IMPULSIVE REALITY (J Bowditch) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

RACE 3 – JOE QUIRK HANDICAP (DIV 1) - 2000m

C Lindop replaced T Creek as the rider of RACQUETS (NZ), when T Creek reported he could not make the allotted weight. Stewards accepted T Creek’s explanation as to the reason for him being overweight, however, he was reminded that a repetition could result in action being taken against him if he re-offended.

In the vicinity of the 1600 metres DAPPERSTAN (N Tomizawa), which commenced to race fiercely, shifted out and hampered QUESTAMATIC (D Tootell). N Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations when placed in a similar situation in future.

RACE 4 – DOUBLE VICE AT GLENRAE HANDICAP (DIV 2) -2000m

Trainer Ms D Wood was fined the sum of $50 for the late notification of rider for DANGEUREUX.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres DINKY BARRY (M Hoppo) showed a tendency to lay in, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres BHUTAN (J Potter) showed a tendency to lay in, forcing that rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Over the concluding stages BAITENHAUSEN (J Maund) shifted in and brushed DINKY BARRY (M Hoppo).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of SATISHA revealed the mare suffered a quartered off hind heel.

RACE 5 – SIR LAURENCE AT BYERLEY HANDICAP - 1300m

CITY PRESS (M Neilson) was inspected by the Club‘s Veterinary Surgeon prior to the start and passed fit to take its place in the field.

HECKLE (W Kerford) was slow to begin.

OTTOBELLO (J Potter) raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of OTTOBELLO revealed no visible abnormalities.

An inquiry was opened into the reason for OH SO DISCREET (T Creek) being presented in the mounting yard wearing blinkers, when the filly was listed to race without that gear. After taking evidence from Mr D Webster, representing Trainer Mr D O’Sullivan, the inquiry was adjourned to permit Stewards to make further inquiries.

RACE 6 – ROBOT PRINTERS TROPHY - 1000m

ROMILADA (B Claridge) and DEVIL IN DISGUISE (J Bowditch) bumped at the start.

MIGHTY RAJA (D Azis) shifted out at the start and bumped BLUESTONE VILLA (J Holder), which in turn shifted out onto STAND BY ME (J Potter), which shifted out and hampered ARMRAKOV (S Price).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres MIGHTY RAJA (D Azis) shifted out and hampered ARMRAKOV (S Price).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres MIGHTY RAJA (D Azis) shifted out and as a result PALOOKA (J Lyon) had to be steadied for a few strides.

Stewards questioned J Bowditch in relation to the apparent poor performance of DEVIL IN DISGUISE. J Bowditch advised the Stewards that after travelling well for the first 200 metres he felt that DEVIL IN DISGUISE had not handled the track conditions and had failed to respond to his riding in the middle stages. He further advised that over the concluding stages DEVIL IN DISGUISE tired very quickly and he was disappointed with the performance of the mare. Stewards advised J Bowditch they would report his explanation.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of DEVIL IN DISGUISE revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON HANDICAP - 1250m

EXPLOSIVE LOVE (J Bowditch) jumped out at the start and bumped KURI BAY (USA) (S Price).

In the vicinity of the 900 metres SHOCKS (M Neilson) shifted in and as a result MEAN GREEN (D Tootell) had to be steadied for a few strides.

Inside the 600 metres LADY VICKI fell, dislodging rider Ms C Lindop. In consequence, LA SUPREMO (B Claridge) was severely hampered in attempting to avoid LADY VICKI, resulting in B Claridge becoming unbalanced and MEAN GREEN being inconvenienced. An inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed into the reason for LADY VICKI falling in the vicinity of the 600 metres and to allow C. Lindop to be present. LADY VICKI suffered a fracture of the near hind cannon. C. Lindop was transferred to Hospital for precautionary observation and x-rays.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MEAN GREEN confirmed the mare had suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack. Mr R Paech, Trainer of MEAN GREEN, was advised the mare was suspended from racing for a period of three months in accordance to ARR 53A.

RACE 8 – DOMINIC BARBARO HANDICAP - 1400m

J O’Connor replaced C Lindop as the rider of FLEET DAPPER after C Lindop had suffered a fall in the previous race.

PURE SPARK (M Hoppo) jumped in at the start and inconvenienced VANDECLARE (J Potter).

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres FULL GALLOP (J Lyon) shifted in and away from NEW NEPHEW (D Holland) and as a result hampered VANDECLARE (J Potter). Shortly after, NEW NEPHEW (D Holland) shifted in and inconvenienced FULL GALLOP (J Lyon), which in turn shifted in and hampered VANDECLARE (J Potter).

In the vicinity of the 300 metres TO PAY UP (D Tootell) took a run between PURE SPARK (M Hoppo) and NOISY PROSPECT (N Tomizawa), which shifted out slightly. In the incident TO PAY UP (D Tootell) and NOISY PROSPECT (N Tomizawa) made contact resulting both horses becoming unbalanced for a short distance. Although not entirely responsible for the incident, D Tootell was reminded of his obligations when placed in a similar situation in future.

Over the concluding stages DHOLIMA’S DAUGHTER (D Carney) shifted out and inconvenienced SEA THE WAY (J Bowditch).
