RACE 1: EVENTS CORP S.A.HANDICAP

Prior to this event all runners were inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeons and ruled fit to start.

KOODA ASCOT (D Carney) was slow to jump.

CAROL ANNE (D O’Heare) jumped away awkwardly.

In the early stages KOODA ASCOT (D Carney) raced greenly.

Over the concluding 400 metres, QUICK TRICK (J Lyon), which was inclined to lay out and FUJI LASS (D Holland), which was inclined to lay in, brushed on a number of occasions.

Approaching the finish KOODA ASCOT (D Carney) was eased out of the race. KOODA ASCOT sustained a fractured off fore sesamoid during the event.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of WANNA PLAY CHICKEN revealed that filly to be shin sore. Mr L J Smith informed Stewards that WANNA PLAY CHICKEN would now be spelled.

RACE 2: THE YALUMBA MILE

On jumping away SCENARAJA (M Hoppo) jumped outwards and contacted DUKATTI GREY (D Carney).

Subsequent to the race SCENARAJA was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported muscle soreness in he lower back.

RACE 3: SKYCITY HANDICAP

IRISH JANTEE (D Azis) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out tightening WILMA’S KID (M Hoppo) on to PRO NOW (J Potter) resulting in WILMA’S KID losing its position and IRISH JANTEE and PRO NOW becoming unbalanced.

AMBROC (D Holland) jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 4: JAYCO CARAVANS HANDICAP

GUN SHOT (C Lever) threw its head in the air on jumping away.

Near the 1900 metres SIMPLY MAGICAL (D Azis) was obliged to steady off the heels of GUN SHOT (C Lever), which shifted in.

RACE 5: SMOKE-FREE HANDICAP (1)

OWEN (T Creek) jumped away awkwardly.

HAMSTER JAZZ (J Potter) which commenced to lay in after entering the straight continud to lay in under pressure for the remainder of the event.

Stewards ordered a swab sample be taken from OWEN.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of OWEN failed to reveal any visible abnormalities.

FOLLY DOLL received lacerations to it off hind heel and tendon during the race.

RACE 6: FINESSE MODEL AGENCY HANDICAP

Approaching the 1200 metres GEM BEACH (C Lindop) shifted in on to FAIRWAY GAME (J Lyon) which was taken in on to HI TAIL (D Carney) which was inclined to shift away and as a result tightened TARTAN ARMY (J Bowditch) which was obliged to steady.

PRAY IN VAIN received a laceration to its off fore leg during the race.

TARTAN ARMY lost its off hind plate during the race.

RACE 7: CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP

T Creek, who was struck in the eye in an earlier incident was examined by the Club’s Doctor and passed fit to ride.

The start of this race was delayed owing to the girth on KASTABON requiring replacement.

Near the 1400 metres, NOTHING BUT GOLD (S Cahill), which was inclined to race fiercely, was obliged to steady off the heels of COOL CONDIE (C Lindop) when that gelding was being taken in by YOU’RE JOKING (L Meech). L Meech was advised of her obligations when shifting ground.

Near the 1100 metres COOL CONDIE (C Lindop), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in and tightened THUNDER CREEK (C Buchiw).

Inside the 400 metres, JEZARICH (S Price) shifted out on to the hindquarters of ZIP INFATUATION (C Lever) resulting in that gelding being turned in and shifting back on to JEZARICH resulting in JEZARICH being shifted in and obliged to steady off the heels of OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M Hoppo).

Racing to the 200 metres COOL CONDIE (C Lindop), which was inclined to lay in under pressure, was reluctant to come away from the heels of YOU’RE JOKING (L Meech) and proved difficult to ride.

Inside the 200 metres OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M Hoppo) shifted in under riding and contacted NOTHING BUT GOLD (S Cahill) on two occasions.

RACE 8: SCHWEPPES HANDICAP

The start of this race was delayed owing to SAPPHIRE FLASH (NZ) (D Tootell) after being loaded becoming unruly and reversing out of the gates and in doing so damaging its barrier blanket. SAPPHIRE FLASH (NZ) was fitted with a replacement blanket and reloaded. Mr L J Smith trainer of SAPPHIRE FLASH (NZ) was advised that a repetition of that filly’s behaviour might lead to action being taken against it.

On being loaded RENANO BRIGHTIA escaped from the attendant and subsequently galloped un-captured for a short distance. RENANO BRIGHTIA was subsequently withdrawn by Stewards at 4.29pm acting on veterinary advice. There were no deductions in betting. Mr L J Smith trainer of

RENANO BRIGHTIA was advised that a repetition of that filly’s behaviour might lead to action being taken against it.

SMEE SISTER (J Potter) and SAPPHIRE FLASH (NZ) (D. Tootell) were both slow to jump.

SAVAGE ATTACK (T Creek) knuckled on jumping away, shifted in and inconvenienced GORGEOUS GURU (J Holder).

RACE 9: ALCOHOL GO-EASY HANDICAP (2)

Prior to the start JEUNE GIRL was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

BRIANNA BLONDIE (L Smith) was slow to jump.

DARK ‘N’ DUSTY (W Kerford), which was inclined to lay away from runners on the inside, ran off making the turn off the back straight.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres BAROSSA CAN CAN (D Carney) which shifted in and away from TUSCOLA (S Cahill) resulting in C’EST LE VIE (C Lever) being tightened and forced to lose its position. In being steadied C’EST LE VIE got its head up and shifted out across the heels of BAROSSA CAN CAN. In consequence PIETA (J Holder) was obliged to shift out and made the turn off the back straight wide.

Near the 200 metres TUSCOLA (S Cahill) shifted in under riding on to JEUNE GIRL (S Price) taking that mare on to MAGNUM OF PRAISE (S Harrison) resulting in MAGNUM OF PRAISE having to be steadied away from the heels of JEUNE GIRL. S Cahill was found guilty of a charge of Careless Riding ARR137 (a) and suspended from riding for a period to commence at midnight tonight and expire at midnight on 2 March 2002.

Subsequent to the race JEUNE GIRL was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame in the off fore leg.

BAROSSA CAN CAN lost its off fore plate during the running of the race.
