        W. Harnett. Race 1 - WEST COAST RAILWAY CLASSIC 3YO CLASS 3
        HANDICAP - 1400 METRES  Run Mikhail Run jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.  Race 2 - HAMMONDS PAINTS/DULUX 2YO SUPER VOBIS
        HANDICAP - 1200 METRES  After being placed in its stall Maranello Miss became
        fractious and lashed out on a number of occasions. Maranello Miss was examined by the
        clubs veterinary surgeon who reported that the filly had sustained an injury to a stifle
        and was unfit to run. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Maranello Miss at 12.10 p.m.
        Subsequently the Stewards ordered all monies wagered on Maranello Miss be refunded, and
        that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Maranello Miss be
        subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win
        Bets: 26 cents; Place Bets: 19 cents; Winning Concession Bets: 24 cents and Doubles Bets:
        26 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be
        paid at face value of the ticket. Acting on a report from the starter regarding the unruly
        behaviour of Maranello Miss at the barrier the stewards notified Mrs. M. Harry, Part
        Owner/Trainer that Maranello Miss is not permitted to start in races until it performs to
        the satisfaction of the stewards in a barrier trial at which time it must obtain a barrier
        test certificate.  Acting on a report from the starter regarding the unruly
        behaviour of Encosta Draw after being placed in the stalls the stewards notified Mr. S.
        Royal that should Encosta Draw behave in a similar manner in future it may be suspended
        from racing. Mr. Royal was notified that prior to Encosta Draw starting again he must
        produce a barrier test certificate. Acting on a report from the starter regarding the unruly
        behaviour of Artistic Fame after being placed in the stalls the stewards notified Mr.
        Grant Craven representing M. Ellerton that should Artistic Fame behave in a similar manner
        in future it may be suspended from racing. Mr. Craven was notified that prior to Artistic
        Fame starting again he must produce a barrier test certificate.  As a result of these incidents the start of the race was
        delayed. Monde Jewel was slow to begin. Near the 1000 metres Revolve
        Around Him when being eased off the heels of Starkalani shifted out abruptly and hampered
        Artistic Fame. Race 3 - SCHWEPPES CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1700 METRES  Rainbows For Me was slow to begin. On the home turn
        Rainbows For Me had to shift in to avoid the heels of Rift to obtain a run on that
        gelding's inside. In the straight Rainbows For Me shifted in under pressure and
        inconvenienced Just A Look. As a consequence R. Bradley, Rider of Rainbows For Me had to
        stop riding and restrain the gelding. Race 4 - RETRAVISION/WHIRLPOOL CLASS 5 HANDICAP -
        1100 METRES  The start of the race was delayed due to initially the
        saddlecloth on Rainbow Thai having to be replaced and Zigomar, after being placed in its
        stall, broke through the front gate and galloped a short distance and was then caught by
        the Clerk of the Course. Zigomar was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed
        fit to run. Mark Pegus, rider of River Junction was severely reprimanded for shifting in
        shortly after the start when not sufficiently clear of Harms Way resulting in Harms Way
        being tightened onto Kahoona and having to be checked off the heels of River Junction.
        Near the 700 metres Shango's Image brushed the running rail. Race 5 - SOVEREIGN RESORT CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1300
        METRES  Acting on a report from the starter that Nostrovia proved
        difficult to load into the barriers and had delayed the start of the race, Stewards
        notified Mr. G. Mallinson, Trainer of the gelding that Nostrovia is not permitted to start
        in races until it performs to the satisfaction of the stewards in a barrier trial at which
        time it must obtain a barrier test certificate.  Rounding the home turn Ashkalante and Vocals were held up
        when unable to obtain clear runs and Ashkalante became unbalanced when brushed by
        Embryonic which shifted in slightly. Near to 200 metres Vocals when obtaining a narrow run
        between PoYang and Jacob's Hero was tightened for room when both those horses shifted
        ground slightly. The tightening was aggravated when both Jacob's Hero and Po Yang were hit
        on the hindquarters and turned. As a result all three horses were hampered. As no one
        rider was fully responsible the stewards took no action. Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT WARRNAMBOOL CUP - 2350
        METRES  During the running of the race the saddle on Wellington
        shifted forward inconveniencing its rider C. Symons for the remainder of the race. At the
        entrance to the straight D. Yendall, rider of Badger's Wood lost his whip. Running to the
        winning post the first time, China Garden which was over racing shifted in to avoid the
        heels of Shibiri and tightened Merlins Law onto West Texas resulting in both those horses
        being hampered. The tightening was aggravated when Shibiri shifted in slightly after being
        tightened slightly by Ascana.  Race 7 - EAT WELL LIVE WELL GRAND ANNUAL
        STEEPLECHASE - 5500 METRES  During the running of the race Hadawine lost its off hind
        plate. When High Celebrity fell at the first of the Tozer Road double the second time
        Sampan Man, Twist Of Luck, Aorangi and Miracle's Star which were following were hampered.
        P. Daniel, rider of Port Campbell stated that the gelding made a faulty jump crossing the
        Alfred Road double on the second occasion and then Port Campbell hung out, and as he
        believed something may have been amiss with it he pulled Port Campbell up. A veterinary
        examination of Port Campbell revealed that the gelding was showing signs of soreness in
        the near foreleg . Mr. S. Fisher, Trainer of Port Campbell will be notified that he must
        obtain a veterinary clearance for Port Campbell prior to its next start. Race 8 - MERCEDES-BENZ HANDICAP - 1400 METRES  Prior to correct weight being declared, K. McEvoy, rider of
        Oliver Beer wished to view the Steward's patrol film with the view to lodging an
        objection. After viewing the film with Mr. R. Smerdon representing Mr. D. O'Sullivan,
        Trainer of Oliver Beer, K. McEvoy did not lodge an objection and correct weight was
        declared. Acting on a report from the starter that Spanish Arms
        proved difficult to load into the barriers and had delayed the start of the race, Stewards
        notified Mr. L. Harford that should Spanish Arms behave in a similar manner in future it
        may be suspended from racing. Mr. Harford was notified that prior to Spanish Arms starting
        again he must produce a barrier test certificate. It was established that approaching the 200 metres General
        Feelgood and Oliver Beer came together due mainly to Oliver Beer shifting out slightly
        under pressure. Just prior to straightening Rings Of Gold which commenced to give ground
        was hampered an had to be eased when tightened for room between In Peril and Huntingfield
        which was taken out by Oliver Beer who shifted out to obtain a run on the outside of
        Spanish Arms. K. McEvoy, rider of Oliver Beer was notified to exercise far more care when
        shifting ground in the future. Race 9 - CHALLENGER FIRST PACIFIC/SINCLAIR WILSON
        CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 2000 METRES  On the home turn Pilot To Runway was hampered when Ruling
        Ranch (W. Davis) shifted out and bumped that gelding when attempting to take a run on the
        outside of Claremaan when there was not sufficient room. Crazy Date which was following
        was hampered. W. Davis was severely reprimanded and told to exercise far more care when
        shifting ground in the future. In the early part of the straight Crazy Date was
        inconvenienced when tightened for room between Rittmeister and Pilot to Runway which was
        taken out slightly by Ruling Ranch which was laying out. SWAB SAMPLES -  Pre-race blood samples were taken from the following horses

 Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners

        colours on the gelding.
 Race 7Ms. F. Houlihan, trainer of Sampan Man was fined the sum of $50 for late notification of
        T. Hazlett as the rider.
