Race 1 - QUALITY HOTEL WANGARATTA GATEWAY 2Y.O. HANDICAP - 1180M

Race 2 - GRETA WEST STUD MAIDEN PLATE - 1180M

The Starter was unable to use gate no. 8 owing to repairs being carried out to the back gates.

RECORD BREAKER was slow to begin.

Approaching 300m SONG OF NILE shifted in which resulted in LUCY IN THE SKY being taken in onto CONFIRMED BOOKING which was hampered.

Race 3 -PIZZINI, CHRISTMONT & KING RIVER ESTATE WINERIES 3YO F MDN PL. - 1400M

Approaching 900m CARTD'OR, which was over racing, had to be eased off the heels of AUX CAYES.

In the middle stages of the race TOLAGO raced greenly and in the straight TOLAGO had a tendency to lay in.

In the early part of the straight and for some distance, PRINCESS DEHERE had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Acting on a report from the starter, that TOLAGO had proved difficult to load into the stalls, Stewards notified Mr. G. Dixon representing Trainer J. Symons, that an official warning would be placed against the filly and should the filly behave in a similar manner in the future it may lead to some action being taken. Mr. Dixon was further notified that before TOLAGO would be permitted to start again, Mr. Symons must be in receipt of a barrier Certificate in respect to the filly.

Race 4 - ROYAL & SUNALLIANCE INSURANCE 3YO C & G MDN PL. - 1400M

On arrival at the course COOGEE SUN, which had hurt itself en route to the course was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding had suffered wounds to its off hind leg and was unfit to start, Stewards withdrew COOGEE SUN at 12 noon.

ENCOSTA NOVA was slow to begin.

Approaching 1000m ZED EXPRESS was hampered when tightened for room by LUCKY TRADER who was taken in by RECHARGE (E. Marchant) which shifted in. E. Marchant was reprimanded and notified that he must exercise far more care when shifting ground in the future.

Approaching 800m RED BEACON had to be eased off the heels of ARCHER'S PRIDE when that gelding eased.

ZED EXPRESS, which was following RED BEACON then had to shift out to avoid that gelding's heels and in doing so hampered RUNYONESE.

Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that RECHARGE had been galloped on the off hind leg.

Race 5 - HOYSTED FAMILY CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1180M

Subsequent to the event, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that WILL JAZZ had suffered a wound to it's off hind leg.

After being placed in the stalls RUNAWAY CLIP broke through the barriers before being caught by the Clerk of the Course.

Acting on a report from the Starter that NOSTROVIA had proved difficult to load into the Barriers, Stewards notified Billy Jo, representing Trainer Craig Conran that an official warning would be placed against the gelding and that should NOSTROVIA behave in a similar manner in the future it may lead to some action being taken. Billy Jo was further notified that before NOSTROVIA would be permitted to start again Mr. Conran must produce a barrier certificate in respect of the gelding.

Acting on are report from the starter that KING'S GOD had proved difficult to load into the barriers, Stewards notified Trainer Gary Aldridge that an official warning would be placed against the gelding and before Kings God can race again Mr Aldridge must produce a barrier certificate in respect of the gelding.

Stephen Baster, rider of POWER AND GRACE stated to the Stewards he eased the filly down in the straight due POWER AND GRACE hanging. Leon Corstens Trainer of POWER AND GRACE was notified that an official warning would be placed against the filly and should POWER AND GRACE perform in a similar manner in the future it may lead to some action being taken.

After passing 400m KEYNOTES which was attempting a narrow run between WILL JAZZ and RUNAWAY CLIP shifted out and brushed the hind quarters of RUNAWAY CLIP. RUNAWAY CLIP then shifted in and brushed WILL JAZZ which resulted in J. Anstice rider of RUNAWAY CLIP losing the use of his near side iron for some distance.

Approaching the winning post KEYNOTES was tightened for room between KING'S GOD which was weakening and SHAMROCK'S JOY which shifted out slightly.

Race 6 -FRANK DIMETZ JEWELLERS OPEN HANDICAP - 1000M

Approaching 600m SUPER ELEGANT was tightened for room between GREY REGENT and BONNIE PRINCE which shifted out slightly.

Race 7 -MULWALA WATER SKI CLUB STAYERS SERIES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 2010M

Rounding the home corner and in the straight SHAMAN'S DREAM hung out.

Race 8 - TOOHEYS NEW WANGARATTA CUP - 1600M

J. Patton rider of MAYTHEHORSEBEWITHU, which had performed below expectations, stated to the Stewards that the Gelding had got his tongue over the bit during the running of the race.

RACE 9 - VODUSEK MEATS CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1600M

TUPPAL LAD jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

In the early stages of the race COLDARK got its head up when being restrained.

Rikki Cartright rider of BATARSHI which had performed below expectations stated to the Stewards that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages of the race but then failed to respond to his riding from the 600m onwards.
