Race 1 - Tooheys New Restricted Trophy Race (2) Handicap (1)

After passing the 600 metres "Hallowed Bow" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Swoop On" which was weakening.

"West End Riot" began awkwardly. After interviewing Michael Tabone rider of "King's Captain" who explained that the gelding had lost its footing after passing the 600 metres, Stewards inspected the track and ordered a section between the 800 metres and the 500 metres to be harrowed.

Race 3 - Spiden Family Restricted Trophy Race (3) Handicap

Prior to the race the Stewards notified all riders of the works that had been carried out on the track subsequent to the running of Race 2.

In the early stages of the race "Charmandene" got its head up and raced ungenerously.

Kain Harris rider of "Mountain Chief" was severely reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on the gelding.

Richard Laming rider of "Kylmar", fourth placegetter was severely reprimanded for weighing in 1 kilogram over his declared weight.

Race 4 - Newhaven IGA Friendly Grocer Restricted Trophy Race (1) Handicap

While waiting to be loaded into the starting stalls "Somebody's Lying" became fractious and threw its head back resulting in its rider Michael Tabone suffering a facial injury. As Michael Tabone was unable to fulfil his engagement Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Somebody's Lyin" at 2.49pm.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered all monies wagered on "Somebody's Lyin" to be refunded and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Somebody's Lyin" to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, Win bets 7c, Place bets 7c, Winning Concession Bets 7c, Doubles Bets 7c. Prior to correct weight Adam Bodey rider of "Aunty Robin", second placegetter and Mr Damian Walkley trainer of the mare viewed the video patrol before deciding not to lodge an objection.

When the gates opened "Spider Henry" jumped away awkwardly.

Race 5 - Island IGA Supermarket Open Trophy Race

After passing the 200 metres "Smug Lord" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Free for All" which shifted in slightly.

Race 6 - Coldon's Woolamai Cup Open Trophy Race

Near the 600 metres "Poetic Path" lost its footing.

After passing the 700 metres "Rising Fine" shifted out and bumped "Cavla".

Ray Douglas rider of "Spirit of Voodoo" was severely reprimanded for using improper language in the scale area subsequent to the race.

Race 7 - Ritches "Where the Community Benefits" Open Trophy Race Handicap

Prior to correct weight Kane Harris rider and trainer of "Credible" second placegetter viewed the video patrol and decided to lodge an objection against "Rubenson" being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn. After the parties had viewed the patrol video and after hearing submissions from the parties concerned, the Stewards dismissed the objection.

After passing the 600 metres "Shazague" lost its footing.

SWAB SAMPLES - Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners

Race 2 - "Aces are Sweet"
Race 6 - "Fabio"

FINES & EXPLANATIONS

Stewards accepted the explanation of Mr R Clunning, trainer of "Ceedee" for his use of the Clubs colours on the gelding.

Due to a printing error, "Kylmar" horse number 6 in Race 3 inadvertently appeared as a runner in Race 2 in the racebook. Also due to a printing error, Race 7 appeared in the racebook prior to Race 6.
