SHOWERY TRACK: HEAVY (at 2.58pm SLOW, at 4.54pm DEAD)
RACE 1 - WYONG OASIS YOUTH CENTRE CLASS 6 HANDICAP No report. RACE 2 - LAWLER PARTNERS PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN
PLATE As S Treweek did not arrive on course on time due to
transport difficulties, M Newnham was substituted as the rider of Dechant. Gold Zoffany jumped awkwardly. RACE 3 - TYRRELL'S WINES 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP Acting on veterinary advice that Moon Mambo was unfit to
start, stewards ordered its withdrawal at 9.45am. As C O'Brien was unable to pass a doctor's clearance, J
Grisedale was substituted as the rider of Croquembouche. C O'Brien was advised that he was
not permitted to take rides until a doctor's certificate has been submitted to the
stewards. The Mole jumped awkwardly. Template and Fille Fiona were slow to begin. Croquembouche hung in under pressure in the straight and
proved difficult to ride out. RACE 4 - TOOHEYS MAIDEN HANDICAP Keen Bean was slow to begin. Approaching the 400M when attempting a tight run between
Total Rush and Channon Legend, Horse King shifted out resulting in Channon Legend and
Flying Nicko being taken wider. When questioned regarding the improved performance of Total
Rush trainer N McBurney stated that at its last start the horse raced slightly more
forward outside the lead than anticipated, however weakened in the straight when placed
under pressure and in his opinion Total Rush got its tongue over the bit on that occasion.
He attributed the improved performance today to the addition of a tongue tie, Total Rush
being able to relax when settling in behind the pace and its liking for a soft track. Following the running of this race the track was
upgraded from Heavy to Slow at 2.58pm. A post race veterinary examination of Flying Nicko found
the horse to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer G Rogerson was advised that a
veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before Flying Nicko is permitted to
race again. RACE 5 - LAWLER PARTNERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP Trainer G O'Shea was reprimanded for presenting Beatnik in
the mounting enclosure with blinkers. Life's Fortune jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped
Centillate. After the 600M Celtic Mate was steadied when crowded for
room between I Say and Beatnik (C Brown) which shifted in slightly. C Brown was advised to
exercise more care. RACE 6 - WYONG RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP My Joey was slow to begin. Inclement, which jumped awkwardly, hung in and raced
greenly throughout. In the middle stages Southern Command commenced to overrace
and was steadied away from the heels of Kub for some distance. My Joey was held up rounding the home turn when awkwardly
placed close to the heels of Queen Polimoni. History Maker hung out rounding the home turn and in the
straight. RACE 7 - LAWLER PARTNERS CLASS 3 HANDICAP Gold Again overraced in the middle stages and near the
300M was steadied away from the heels of Proud Persian. Following the running of this race the track was
upgraded from Slow to Dead at 4.54pm. RACE 8 - WYONG RACECOURSE FUNCTION CENTRE CLASS 1
HANDICAP Allfores and Gigabyte Maiz were slow to begin. Shortly after the start Proud Canadian was hampered when
crowded between Naberzox and Visual Emotion. Allfores hung out rounding the home turn. On straightening Proud Canadian was steadied and shifted
out to obtain clear running when placed close to the heels of Tivoli time. After the race it was noted that Proud Canadian had lost
its off fore plate. H Bowman (Tivoli Time) explained that his mount was
inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and as a result he was obliged to stop
riding and straighten and ride his mount out hands and heels to the finish line. A post
race veterinary examination of Tivoli Time found the mare to have been galloped on on the
off hind leg. S Treweek (Oakfield Duchess) explained that his mount never
travelled comfortably throughout the race and was disappointing in its failure to run on.
Trainer D Smith undertook to report on the condition of the mare in the days subsequent. A
post race veterinary examination of Oakfield Duchess found the filly to be distressed. SUMMARY: REPRIMANDS: Race 5 - Beatnik (G O'Shea) VET CERTIFICATES: Race 4 - Flying Nicko (G Rogerson) CHANGE OF RIDERS: Race 2 - M Newnham replaced S Treweek on Dechant
