RACE 1 - Wyong Rugby League Club Class 6 Handicap 1000m M De Montfort (Kianben) pleaded guilty to the charge of
careless riding under AR 137(a) in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift
inwards when insufficiently clear of A Deena causing that horse to be steadied and crowded
in on to Miner resulting in that horse being taken in across the running of Shaanxi which
was steadied and lost ground to which it was rightfully entitled. M De Montfort's licence
to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday 24 April 2002 and to
expire on Thursday 2 May 2002 on which day he may ride. RACE 2 - Wallarah Bay Recreation Club Maiden Plate 1000m As C Agnew did not arrive on course due to transport
difficulties, M De Montfort was substituted as the rider of Primarose. Interzar was slow to begin. Up the Sleeve was slow to begin, shifted out and clipped
the heels of Real Dash and blundered. T Muto (Lady Siesta) explained that the mare raced in a
leading position at its most recent start at Newcastle on 30 March 2002 due mainly to
taking advantage of an inside draw. He said on that day Lady Siesta did not finish off the
race as well as expected and therefore today he was given the option from a wide barrier
that if there was good early pace to take a sit with cover or, alternatively, press
forward if the pace was not genuine. He added that due to the early speed he was able ride
the horse off the pace with cover. When asked about the disappointing performance of Normandy
Air, R Thompson explained that he was instructed to allow his mount to settle in a forward
position, however the gelding jumped awkwardly, was caught wide and did not show any early
speed. He said near the 500m Normandy Air received a significant bump when Interzar
shifted out and became unbalanced for a short distance. He said from that point on
Normandy Air did not respond to his riding and weakened considerably in the straight. A
post race veterinary examination found Normandy Air to have sustained minor lacerations to
the inside of both hocks. After the race it was noted that Saint Laurence had bled
from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which Saint Laurence had bled it is
now barred from racing in Australia forever. RACE 3 - 1967 Under 19 Premiers Class 1 Handicap 1350m Approaching the winning post Sky Can Hurri shifted in and
as a result Sweet Air was steadied. P Falvey (Sky Can Hurri) explained that his mount hung out
in the straight and consequently he was unable to fully test the filly. When asked about the disappointing performance of Vo'real D
Beasley said  he enjoyed a good run in the race, positioned outside the leader. He
said that due to the slow pace his mount however pulled harder than he would have liked
and when placed under pressure by Silver Ghost, which was racing to his outside, from
about the 600m Vo'real commenced to lay out, contacted that runner and from that point on
was a beaten horse. Trainer B Partelle explained that Vo'real had worked well prior to
today and was fancied by the stable. He said that the only explanation he could offer for
the poor performance was that Vo'real is better suited back in the field with cover. Mr
Partelle undertook to report if there is anything amiss with the gelding in the days
subsequent. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality and a swab
sample was taken. RACE 4 - 1947 Premiers 3yo Maiden Plate 1200m Annadane was slow to begin. Near the 600m Devilina was crowded for room by Asia De Cuba
which was pulling hard and shifted out. RACE 5 - Darryl Palmer Memorial Class 3 Handicap 1200m After being boxed Scenic Review became fractious, reared,
struck its head and became cast. Acting on veterinary advice that the mare was unfit to
race, stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.12pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all
monies wagered on Scenic Review be refunded in full and with regard to betting with
bookmakers all successful wagers be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on
the face value of the ticket: win and traditional each way, seven cents win and eight
cents place. Trainer T Vigouroux was advised that before Scenic Review
is permitted to race again it must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial from enclosed
barriers. Simon's Galaxy hung out approaching and rounding the home
turn. RACE 6 - 1968-1969 Premiers Maiden Plate 1350m Sky Lyric was slow to begin. Tomali, which was slow to begin, commenced to overrace
leaving the 1100m and was steadied when tightened by Priceless Treasure. Near the 50m Montego shifted out and bumped Dynamic, as a
result Dynamic became unbalanced and short distance thereafter shifted back in and bumped
Montego. RACE 7 - Wyong Roos Legends Class 1 Handicap 1100m Celestial was slow to begin. In the early stages Bold Quest was tightened on several
occasions between Poetic Papal, which in turn became unbalanced, and Truly Ours. M De Montfort (Under The Card) explained that over the
concluding stages Can't Tackle, which was racing to his inside, commenced to shift out and
as he was concerned that he might have clipped that horse's heels he was obliged to take
hold of his mount. A post race veterinary examination of Celestial revealed
the filly to be bleeding from its nearside nostril. A post race veterinary examination of Bold Quest, which
weakened over the concluding stages, did not reveal any abnormality. RACE 8 - Stan Morris memorial Provincial Class 1 &
Maiden Plate 1600m At the start Mysterious Times was crowded between I Declare

getting its head up on several occasions, then near the 1400m shifted out inconveniencing
Gospelor. When questioned A Gibbons (Kaoru Time) explained that from
the wide alley he was instructed to find cover. He said in the early stages when there was
no pace and his mount commenced to pull hard, he elected in the circumstances to take up a
forward position. SUMMARY: SUSPENSIONS: Race 1 - M De Montfort [AR 137(a)]
