Flemington Track Update

Wednesday 4pm, I wanted to find out what all the Hayes hullabaloo was about. I went down to the track and as far as I could see the surface had a sponge in it but had a solid base that would go close to a good track. After my excursion around the inside and the outside of the straight, which differentiated very little, I felt a sprinkle of rain. I thought this is OK the track will handle a bit of water, but little did I know what the heavens had in store.

Thursday morning 6 am and another heavy downpour, sadly I started to conclude that the Derby meeting would be ruined but in the immortal words of Banjo Patterson " if you don’t like Melbourne’s weather just wait a minute". What was meant to be intermittent rain turned into a breezy, sunny and drying Melbourne Thursday!

Whilst the future forecast is not overly encouraging let’s hold our breath and hope for the best as the greatest Thoroughbred Racing Carnival in the world is about to begin.

Don’t forget to check our website this Saturday morning from 10am, all the prices and selections are free for the second week running. As you can see from last week we were hot and getting hotter.
