The Carnival Is Over
Back to Thursday where the party continued for the bookies and if they didn’t win over the carnival with all of those surprise results they should hand in their licence!!! I just hope you followed the AD&JD selections for Thursday’s quaddie with our good thing winning the first leg and the two standouts in the last leg running 1st and 2nd. The quaddie only cost $50 and with the carry over jackpot pool it paid a massive $3900. In my eyes the highlight of the carnival was Saturday when a beautiful honest little horse, against all odds, huge weight and bad barrier, steamed gallantly down the outside for an easy win. Yes, "Testa Rossa" really fired my emotions. What a beauty!! I actually ran to the fence to clap him on return to scale. "Testa" is what keeps people coming back to the races. Good luck overseas, champ. O.K, great job V.R.C. You got them there in record numbers but did you satisfy them? I heard so many people say they wouldn’t come back which is disappointing, lets look at the main reason. Overcrowding made it hard to have a bet and almost impossible to buy any food worth eating. Maybe it could be time to allow a few alternative food stalls scattered around the course while still controlling how much they can charge. We don’t want people going away feeling ripped off, do we? Well the party
is over and what a way to finish off for the punters. "Flavour" was THE best
backed horse of the whole carnival! A few poor bookies gave 11/1 before the avalanche of
money forced their price down to a low as 4/1. That’s a big bet in a strong market
place such as Flemington was on Saturday!
