Enough is Enough

It’s Saturday morning and on goes the radio, Keith interviews the Flemington course manager and it seems with glee that he proclaims the penetrometer reading on the inside of the straight to be 4.13 and the outside 4.29. The conclusion is that it would seem a fair advantage to any horse that draws the inside. Race One and only two horses go to the inside, Scotts’ Valley Warrior and Hylands’ Card Queen, they finish 11th and 14th. After the race I ponder the question are there only three dills in the world who listen to the radio? Or are there only three who believe what they hear?

Whilst we are celebrating the 31st. anniversary of man landing on the moon, the brains trust at the V.R.C. are still scratching there heads trying to work out the vagaries of a piece of dirt 1200 metres long! I can hear them now walking around with penetrometer in hand saying "stick it in here Tom, no actually over there, oh stick it in anywhere no one will know the difference, there are only three people who listen to us anyway". Well I can tell them exactly where to stick it and it won’t improve your walk but it may straighten your posture.

The solution is rather simple and the outcome a very positive result for punters, Sky Racing and the TAB. We send two trackwork gallopers down the straight, or around any course for that matter, on the morning of the meeting, we film it and interview the jockeys after the gallop. This approach will be a fair and entertaining way to allow people to draw there own conclusions. Seeing is believing and surely Sky Racing would jump at a five minute segment which would be a "must see TV" for any poor punter who wants to stay on the right side of the track!
